You are making me curious Pea. I feel like I am missing out on something, but I am pretty sure I will be wasting my time by even attempting to like his stuff. I have never been into hip-hop or whatever Kanye is classified as. I have had times in my life where I listened to some rap and hip-hop but it never lasts. Sir-mix-a-lot, Easy E, Snoop, Too Short, NWA, Too Live Crew, Dr. Dre, and most recently Kid Cudi for about a week. The closest thing I get to any kind of hip-hop/rap is older Michael Franti and Rage Against the Machine. Thats quite a stretch too.

Backlash against a performer because of his personality is the stupidest. Fucking. Thing. Everyone whose music you enjoy is a huge asshole. I've never sat through a complete Kanye album, but I've heard enough to know that whatever kind of insane douchebag he is, he is one of the most aggressively creative people working in music today.

Gaga's doin' SOMETHING right. She's got the aesthetic down, just her music is for shit. What I can't understand is why the public at large is so interested in something so aggressively WEIRD. I mean, if people wanna see weird stuff they should just come over to my house for a movie night.

All I ask is for somebody to put Kanye in his place and knock him off his high horse he so adamantly rode in on.

My general disinterest in hip-hop is what originally kept me from ever caring to check into his music, but his public persona definitely became the icing on the cake later on. I'm glad that something came along to finally motivate me to give his music a proper chance.

Although, Pea, I am very interested in hearing your review of his performance at Coachella. I'm sure you will have some 'technicolor' assistance to help the situation. If you run across his horse, please, shoot it for me!

I'm pretty sure that even the most vehement Kanye hater would have his mind completely blown by one of his performances. The production value on that shit is out of control.

Kanye is loud, in-your-face, egotistical, and just generally larger than life. But, for me, the thing that makes a difference here is that he knows this. He is acutely aware of this and he says it. He went through some serious shit when his mom died, the culmination being the Taylor Swift incident. He was working some shit out and he has freely admitted to that. There are plenty of people whose horses are just as high or higher than his, but he is the one who slipped his horse the mickey.
