you never know... last year everyone thought LCD Soundsystem would take the Cup, but Massive Attack came out on top.

If Pink Martini doesn't win this thing then I'm going to click 'ignore' on everyone who didn't vote for them. Except half the people here probably didnt see them. Based on the reviews, not seeing Pink Martini and !!! are my biggest regrets this year.

Bassnectar was 'The Moment' of the weekend. But fucking Pink Martini was one of the five best performances I've seen at Sasquatch ever. Or anywhere for that matter. That was one for the record books, something you don't ever forget as long as you live.

That was one for the record books, something you don't ever forget as long as you live. I've heard a few people say how great that show was, but just out of curiosity, what made it so good? The energy, the improvisation, the overall talent of the band? I'm just curious because listening to their songs I didnt think it would be that amazing, hence why I saw Jenny and Johnny and Wye Oak instead. Though Wye Oak was really good.

Yeah well, in reference to Pink Martini I don't understand what any of those words mean. I don't think I've ever heard one of their songs. I'm not shitting on them, or glad I missed them (it obviously sounds like a really amazing show) but since I have absolutely no context of what Pink Martini or Storm Large is I'm not going to lose any sleep over missing them (...yet)

I'll wait for someone who is better at explaining things to do this.

I loved it because it was exactly what I wasn't expecting to hear at all that weekend. The band was amazing first of all. Amazing energy and the frontman ( Asian Elton John??) was energetic and he introduced everyone after they each got to do a sweet solo. They said that their usually vocalist was sick, so they brought in Storm Large, who is beyond sexy. She worked the crowd like I've never seen, even when she wasn't singing. It was exactly what I needed that weekend and I wasn't even expecting it.

This is exactly the answer I wasnt looking for... Why? That is the answer. The band themselves were fantastic. They were really tight and sounded great. But Storm Large singing to that music was incredible. She sang sweet songs and bawdy songs and songs in different languages. It was what made that performance so great.

I guess if you saw the show it makes sense, but I didnt, so I am in the dark as to how fantastic she was.

There was more talent on display during Pink Martini's set than there was in every other set that weekend combined. There were more than two dozen performers on stage, and each of them was absolutely incredible. Each of the performers had a chance to perform a small solo over the course of the set and to the last they were STUNNING with their virtuosity. They were a fucking tight outfit. That is one thing. Storm Large. Yes she was beautiful, yes she was sexy, yes you could see alllll the way down that blue dress. But that was only half of her stage presence. She was , funny, bold, coy... She was an all-out performer, and her allure came from bundling all of those qualities together. Ah fuck it. The words STORM LARGE really do sum it up pretty nicely. Just watch this, listen to this woman sing and then fuck off.

I guess you could see all the way down her dress. I did not notice that. But that does not count as stage presence.

Or this one. It's cut off, but this was the highlight of the set for sure. Listen to that trombone player; fucking perfect tone. Watch that HUGE percussion section. Like clockwork.
The comment about her dress was mostly in response to the comment about how she put the whole audience in a trance. I'm saying that the unlimited amount of sexy wasn't the only thing about that set that was so great.

Wow the Pink Martini hyperbole is going to injure someone over here. I watched the set and it was fun and enjoyable. I thought Storm Large was the kind of over-the-top performer that annoys the hell out of me, though she sounded great, and her Spanish was gorgeous. The band was impeccable, with lots of energy. But I still would rather have been watching, I don't know, Robyn. Call me crazy.
