Comparig this year to last year my friends and I were amazed at how packed the hill was. Even with some of the bigger names last year there was no comparison to this year in the middle of the day. Did they sell more tickets this year?

that's what i was wondering. i've never seen so many people crammed into the venue as i did this year. i heard somewhere that about 50,000 people attended over the 3 days.

I think with the larger dance tent, they could get away with increasing the capacity slightly. On the other hand, the schedule was set up in such a way that I had to see MGMT and Vampire Weekend, even though I had very little interest. I'm guessing those two set (and LCD) were probably the most attended of the weekend due to very little going on elsewhere, thus the overcrowded hill.

ehh i dunno dude, the hill filled up EARLY every single day. i remember walking up toward the hill after the heavy played at noon on the last day and couldnt believe how many people were already posted up. especially after how many less people i remember seeing on monday last year.

Well, the early part of the lineup was soooooo much better than last year. I agree, there were a ton more people there at noon than in previous years.

monday last year wasn't even sold out as far as i remember, because it had a pretty weak lineup. this year had people turning up early because there were actually bands a lot of people wanted to see at noon. it did seem to me as though there were at the least a couple thousand more people every day. bigfoot had huge crowds on several occasions, to the point where my 6'3" self could barely see the stage sometimes. the crowds for vampire weekend and MGMT were probably the most tightly packed that i've seen in 3 years of going to sasquatch. given how in demand tickets were this year, i think it's safe to say there will be an even earlier sell out next year, i for one will be buying my pass (and probably a few more to re-sell) the moment they go on sale. a guy i know turned a cool grand in profit from re-selling 3 day passes this year.

i will say, being a part of the tightly packed crowd for Vampire Weekend, that Kid Cudi at least FELT even more tightly packed (I thought my ribs were literally going to break being thrown against that fence). All the Vampire Weekend people just wanted to enjoy themselves and dance, but the Kid Cudi fans were extremely agressive and I think they all just wanted to get as close to Kid Cudi as possible. It didn't help I don't really like Kid Cudi that much, but being in that crowd was awful (as opposed to the fun-ness of the Vampire Weekend crowd)

Was it bad? Last year felt worse somehow.
