It was the most crowded I've ever seen Yeti be, and I would imagine if you were on the edges of that crowd there would have been sound bleed. I was right in the middle of it and it sounded just fine.

Where were you guys for Foster the People?
Honestly it was un-listenable from where I was. I was on the picnic tables right in front of the soy joy tent. We couldn't hear the singer at all and the band sounded like it was playing in a tin can. The only thing we could hear was that big bass drum. We lasted about 4 songs and it wasn't getting better so we bailed. People around us started booing and chanting "turn it up".

 I'm kinda guessing and now that I'm looking at it, I was probably closer to the stage then that. Maybe 20 ft closer. |

I seriously didn't (don't) understand the Foster the People hype. I got dragged their by my friends, and I don't mean to offend , but if you closed your eyes( I did), they sounded like a shitty Maroon5 cover band, seriously. I also could not stand to watch the front man and his stupid shoulder dance, as well as the guy with the flood pants and the giant smile running around trying to play every goddamn instrument on stage. Seriously the best part of that show was the guy on the roof.

There were some people from my hometown that I talked to after the festival, they said it was their favorite show of the weekend, and I'm like " WHAT THE FUCK ELSE DID YOU SEE, REALLLY!?"

I seriously didn't (don't) understand the Foster the People hype. I think I was most bothered that a person I drove with said FtP was her number one to see. Of all the bands, all the great fucking bands, that is what you want to see more than any other? I think I just showed up with a grudge against them, and they sure didn't help themselves with that set.

Foster the People aren't a great band - not by a long shot - but i don't think they're trying to be. All they're trying to do is create some accessible dance-pop. So i have no problem with defending them and saying they put on a really fun show. And sure, I do think their album has been incredibly cliche but it's also really catchy - so I don't think their rise has been all that surprising. I liken them to a far-more poppy MGMT or Passion Pit than something as lame and trite as Maroon 5. Having said that, I don't doubt that i also will be completely over them in about 2 months. Regarding the other bands you mentioned... i completely agree - they all suck, too. But lastly, don't call yourself a "bitter hipster" - that just weakens your, otherwise, convincing argument. love ya, cliff!  |

I don't know about Cage all that much but I can speak for Young the Giant and Fitz. They haven't really come out of nowhere, I've been hearing about them for a while. Young the Giant is a local band for me and they play down here all the time and gained a reputation as a great live band even before their album came out. They've also been nonstop touring for a couple years so they're definitely putting their time in. |

than something as lame and trite as Maroon 5. No I was actually being serious. I wasn't just throwing a comparison out there to be hurtful to fans of FtP. I legitimately think that they sound like my memory of what Maroon 5 sounds like. I haven't listened to their record so I will not speak to that, but live, seriously, that dude sounds like the guy from maroon 5. |
