Read in the style of Pow Pow.
I HAVE SO MANY MORE OPINIONS TO COME BUT I AM TIRED AND I DON'T WANT TO MENTION LITERALLY EVERYTHING ALTHOUGH I CAN GOOD NIGHT SASQUATCH HAVE A SAFE DRIVE BACK TO BRITISH COLUMBIA
- I saw all of Shabazz Palaces, Fool's Gold, Minus The Bear, Portugal. The Man, Broken Social Scene, The National, Vampire Weekend, Caribou, Local Natives, Tallest Man On Earth, They Might Be Giants, Kid Cudi, Tegan And Sara, LCD Soundsystem, Pavement, Public Enemy, The Heavy, Mayer Hawthorne, Seattle Rock Orchestra, Passion Pit, Mountain Goats, and MGMT.
- I saw part of Patton Oswalt, OK Go, My Morning Jacket, Freelance Whales, Phantogram, Drive-By Truckers, Japandroids, No Age, Band of Horses, and Ween. I wish I saw more of Japandroids, but there is no excuse for missing any of the Mountain Goats ever, sorry.
- I got my ticket for Sunday signed by Local Natives. I got my ticket for Monday signed by Japandroids. I got a copy of Forgiveness Rock Record signed by Kevin Drew. He was 40 minutes late, and I gave no fucks.
- You know what the second stage needs? An additional three feet of height. I could see nothing and my camera could barely see anything for Local Natives and Tallest Man on Earth, and furthermore this set-up deterred me from seeing The XX and Cymbals Eat Guitars. This is somehow Honda's fault and I blame them.
- Fuck Avi Buffalo. Avi Buffalo sucks. I didn't particularly want to see Kid Cudi (large crowds and black people scare me!!!) so I walked over to the Yeti to give Avi Buffalo a chance. After watching about 30 seconds of that asshole flail wildly and do that vocal thing that MGMT and The Beastie Boys and I do better, I turned around and sucked it up for Kid Cudi. After all, when am I ever gonna see Kid Cudi again? I will probably see Avi Buffalo at every festival I go to from now on, after all. Fuck.
- I bought Forgiveness Rock Record, This Is Happening, The Wild Hunt, and Beautiful Rat Sunset at the Easy Street booth. One of these things is not like the other.
- Broken Social Scene, musically, had the best set of the weekend. Vampire Weekend had the most fun set of the weekend. Band of Horses had the catchiest thirty seconds of the weekend (musically) when The Funeral started, maybe. Drive-By Truckers had the best story.
- I met knowidyuh. I looked for Interstate, but to no avail.
- Maybe I should give MGMT's new stuff a second chance. Well, first chance. In any case, do they understand the immense power they have to make an audience stand up and sit down at their whim, simply by playing new stuff or old stuff? Can we get their guitarist his own band? Why is Kids more popular than Time To Pretend?
- The king wears a king's hat and lives in a king's house.
- Things that blocked my view, or distracted me in some way from the action: Drunks. People dressed in gold. Waldoes (Waldos?). Unicorns. The sound booth (I was standing directly behind the sound booth sometimes). Tall people (Where's the TALL PEOPLE SUCK festival companion to MEAN PEOPLE SUCK?). People standing on other people's shoulders, which is cool. People sitting on other people's shoulders, which is not cool (it is your fault that you are short).
- Pavement's set was fine, shut up. False starts are charming and it only happened once, early on. The air was cool and the night was fine, all blending well.
- I wrote tweet reviews of every band I saw but I don't care to refer to them right now.
- I still don't get Ween, but I wish I had a time machine so I could make sure that when I write my first novel or put my best-selling album out or give my inaugural address, the phrase "She's gonna earn her master's degree in fucking me!" is involved somehow.
- The Best Ever Death Metal Band Out of Denton is poetry.
