it seriously amuses me that people will defend such a shit performance only by saying things like "that's just how they are" and "you just don't get indie rock, man". great, good for them if they want to be different and stuff, but they should have done so at another festival (or at least on the bigfoot stage) since the majority of the crowd wasn't getting into them at all. i'm not a big fan of vampire weekend but saying their set was the most boring of the weekend is hilariously ignorant. compare the number of people dancing to VW to the ones dancing for pavement. everyone on the hill was sitting down for pavement, many covering their ears or walking away in disgust.

I can't stand Vampire Weekend but I watched them to get a good spot for MMJ and I was pretty impressed with how the crowd was into it. I still don't like them especially since that was like the fifth time I've seen them (my wife drags me to them) but I'm always happy to see other people so happy. I even danced with them to join in the fun!
That said, I'm still bummed I did watch any of the Nada Surf set though.

You missed an amazing show. Nada Surf's set time was the cruelest of the whole weekend. To go up against Vampire Weekend was a tragedy. They (nada) put on one of the best sets of the weekend. The crowd was super pumped and they played 4 songs off their new covers album including an incredible cover of Depeche Mode's "Enjoy the Silence". I've seen them three times and they blew the roof off the bigfoot this year, plus they had two guys backing up the usually tight trio. It's a shame the masses were at VW.

All the reason for that time machine. I've never been to Sasquatch before but I've been to many other festival's and if you want a good spot you need to get there early. Well if I had to do it over again, I would have watch the full set of Nada Surf and made it over the MMJ with no problem since it seemed a ton of people left at VW.

I love how polarized all the Pavement opinions are. Everyone either loved them or hated them and there seems to be no middle ground. This much is true.

I am still fucking pumped on the fact that I saw Pavement.
I co-sign this thread's original post forever.

This was definitely the best weekend of my life, too. I still have dreams about it, haha. Definitely going to become an annual Sasquatcher after this.

I love that your post counts are nearly identical, yet Peatrick has been active for all of 9 months vs. knowidyuh's 2.5 yrs! lol

I love that your post counts are nearly identical, yet Peatrick has been active for all of 9 months vs. knowidyuh's 2.5 yrs! lol I have been here since day one, lurking for a couple months before posting. If you knew how dead the board was the first two years, you would understand why my post count is low. The board didn't get regular action until last December. We crawled through the summer months this year, but had enough posts to make this a year round board. Congrats to the regulars, old and new. It can only get better from here.

I was wondering how this board was in the past. Ive only been a member as of this year, but it seems that with every month that goes by more people are becoming regulars rather than lurkers! Which is awesome!

I totally agree with knowidyuh. I have been a lurker on this board since it was just the moderators chatting with each other. But i'm stoked this has turned into a year round board and figured now was as good a time as any to join the conversation.
i live within 150 miles of the gorge so Sasquatch an annual tradition. I'm glad there are people who enjoy it as much as i do.

Not only do I enjoy the obvious festival aspect of this board, but it helps me get my daily fix of general music chat and helps me occasionally discover some new bands/artists to check out. SCORE!
