My fault. Read something wrong, thought our tickets only came with camping for Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday nights, thought if we wanted to camp Thursday too we'd need to pay extra.

I'm going to be getting there early friday morning ahead of some friends of mine. What are the chances of being able to save them some space, and have them camp beside us when they get there a couple of hours later? Do they really pack you in there making this hard to do?

The official answer is youy can't save spots for your friends. But in reality it depends on your people skills and how quick you can spread your stuff out to hold space. It also depends on how close you are to the roads. If you are close enough youy can squeeze anyone in.

Ok. I don't know if I'll bother. I'll probably just wait for them instead of chancing it.

I've never had issues savings space for people, but when I know that friends are showing up later I usually camp a bit further from the festival entrance because I know it'll be slower to fill up. The hardest part about joining up with friends who show up later is that you might be hard to find (flags!) and even harder to get to. The "roads" wind around and get blocked off as people arrive so even if your friends can see you they might have a hard time getting close. Worst case scenario is they can park up and walk a little ways with their gear. With a little effort and forethought you should be just fine.

When we did it we took their tent and set it up and when they came they unloaded their stuff and just parked the car in a little spot we found.

We're going to have to do this for a couple people this year too. Last year we tried to do it and they just crammed us in so tight we didn't have room for it. This year we plan to have one of the girls driving the 30 foot RV, and we're just gonna tell them to point us away from the crowd a bit because we're not used to driving a big vehicle.

Sexist stereotypes save the day... With that being said, I know I'd have problems driving a 30ft long RV.

Hey, sometimes you gotta use that shit to your advantage. It wasn't my idea.

Hmm, now you got me thinking fox! Maybe, assuming I do drive up in the bus, ill just drive through the fence while approaching the gate and just hope they end up parking me in a corner all by myself. Maybe we should smear some fake blood and hair all over the front too; perhaps a baby's shoe stuck in the grill. Teach those gorgies to put ME in a lil spot all smashed together.

I deserve as much room as people in an RV.

I deserve as much room as people in an RV. RVers can help you with a lot of stuff, like water, outdoor showers, and battery chargers. Be nice to them and you would be surprised at how much better they can make your expereince.

Perhaps I should clarify, I'm arriving early thursday and would like to get an area large enough for the rest of my crew coming later in the PM/friday afternoon; which had been the topic at hand for this entire page of posts.

Oh I have no issue with RVs, I guess it is just harder to fight for space without them and I want space. My hope is that they will be more diligent with not letting non-ticketed people camp so there is more room.

True that, will be interesting to see how the Gorgies handle the new system this year.

I'll be getting there soon after the grounds open on Thursday, any entertainment suggestions for that first night?

Unlike the Coachella campground (which comes with a carnival, skating rink, arcade, late night club, and countless other options), Sasquatch campers are pretty much (actually completely) left to fend for themselves and provide their own entertainment. It might not sound fun on paper, but when 20,000 drunk and high people are left to their own vices in the middle of a dark field things get pretty fucking wacky! Just start cracking beers as soon as you get there and see where the night takes ya. Once you're done setting up camp stroll around the grounds and get a feel for where some of the big parties might be taking place at. There are usually 3-4 different groups of people who bring a decent PA system and provide loud music for people to dance to, so maybe scout one of those out!
