Drugs and drug paraphernalia are illegal, therefore not allowed in the campground.
Tobacco and tobacco paraphernalia are legal, therefore allowed in the campground.
I'm not sure why this needs to be discussed further.

I think that, in addition to basic duplicative repetition, "douchiness" should be a legitimate reason for locking a thread.
(Reason #452 I am wholly unqualified to be an Administrator on this board, let alone anywhere else in my life.)

I agree, but I'm not trying to be god here. Everyone has a right to their opinion, and if they make threads that we don't like, we all can tell them how much we dislike them (not to mention there was a hookah thread last year).
Now if it turns into a drug thread, yeah, it won't last.

Hookah, though... is in a gray area here... especially with the recent smoking law changes in the Pacific NW (Oregon, at least... not sure about Washington). I don't think it's an unreasonable question to ask. Better to know than to show up with something illegal.
Maybe next time you dislike a harmless thread so much, you should go outside and throw a frisbee around or something.

Technically, hookahs are not against the rules, but that doesn't mean some meat-head security guard will agree. I agree that they're definitely in that gray area. If you're sitting around with some friends having a respectfully nice time smoking a shisha you probably won't have a problem. If you're in the middle of a madhouse party smoking one I could see them telling you to stop.
That all being said, I've only ever seen the Gorge camp ground security intervene twice in my 5 years going to Sasquatch. Once when I was at a massive after-hours party that honestly was getting a bit out of hand, and the other time was because we had tied our flagpole to the irrigation system. We thought that was a little weird, especially since it happened Tuesday morning and had been up since Friday.
I guess my point here is that you'll probably be fine, but it never hurts to be a little cautious.

they dont check your car when you get into the campsite, and they will leave you alone if you arent an asshole in your campsite. so it shouldnt be an issue.

I wouldn't worry about it mainly because there are no illicit substances in it. It would just be like me smoking a pipe in my campsite.

I've been told to stop smoking hookah before. Security guard said it was because of the coal on top and said it was a fire hazard. They didn't try to take it or anything though, so might as well hookah away and hope none of the security guys care (which is usually the case).

I could maybe understand the fire hazard thing because coals get super hot and if it's windy, they might blow away, etc.
And hookahs are epic. So delicious.
