So my friends and I are heading down from Canada and we got ourselves a premier camping pass.
Just wondering if anyone has stayed in premier camping before? What does it look like and what are the facilities like (shower/bathroom)? Does anyone have any advice or words of wisdom?

it's basically a big open field like that ^^ it's a lot less cramped than the general camping area, and not as noisy overnight. i personally pay extra for premier only because i enjoy getting more than 2 hours of sleep each night. last year there were plenty of bathrooms but not very many showers unfortunately. supposedly they're working on that for this year. the bathrooms were standard port-a-potties and the showers were in a small building separated for male/female. try to get a spot as far away from the bathrooms as possible unless you can sleep through the sound of doors slamming all night long. it's very annoying and definitely will keep you awake if you're a light sleeper.

scough, I am so glad you mentioned not camping next to the port-a-potties. I was planning to get a spot nearby but didn't even THINK about the doors slamming etc
Thanks!!

it may be slightly different for this year, but the past two times i went they had port-a-potties with the doors that slam themselves shut unless you guide it closed when you're done, and no one does that. i figured i'd mention it since it was a huge annoyance a couple years ago to be camped close to one. it wasn't just the doors slamming either, people would have sloppy drunken sex in them too. kinda makes me want to vomit just thinking about doing that in a public restroom

Another note on port-a-potties: they stink. The folks at the Gorge do a pretty good job looking after them, but even so, camping nearby to shorten the walk between is a rookie mistake. You only make that one once.
PS. It can get really windy there, which will increase the stench radius.

If they try to put you by a group of them, make a big deal out of it or bribe them or lie to them... do something to ensure you're not sleeping there for 3-4 nights. You won't regret it.

Thanks for all of the info. We have a spot in premiere camping, will be in an RV and are planning on getting there Friday afternoon. Do they let you choose a spot anywhere you want or are you directed to a specific spot? Is it first come first serve? We are not really interested in the late night parties so any advice on how to get a quiet spot to set up camp would be great.

everyone is directed to a spot. you can't just drive wherever you want, that would be pretty chaotic. you'll be lucky being in an RV since they have a section just for RVs which is nice and far away from the general campground and most of the noise.

Pemberton general camping was awesome because they just dropped you off in a field (shuttlebus from the parking lot with all your gear) and you basically could camp wherever you wanted.
the bus and the parking lot were brutal, but the freedom was pretty sweet. That said, it was in an actual field...no soft, luxurious grass to be seen.

I already replied to you in a different thread, but as long as you have a ticket already you won't have a problem. See my other post for more words.
