i love the love. last p the man show i was at there was heavy crowd movement. not full-on mosh. but there were definitely times when we moved more than 5 feet. the guys all around me were drunk, but i was pretty buzzed so it was a sweet time. the time before that no one even moved.
which crowd are we going to be?

i told you to be careful. everyone who likes them obsesses over them. there is no in between. Heed this warning! I did not and have since made my way backward through their catalog only to like them more and more until I'm now toying with an obsession. Their show is going to rock!

I really like it. It's definitely more pop and less rock, but still a very enjoyable album. The Dead Dog, 1000 Years, and The Pushers Party are some awesome tracks. When the World Ends is pretty poppy but a great way to close the album, I think.

We better be the crazy crowd; having an excellent time, but being civil at the same time. It always sucks to have a few drunken idiots ruin a whole set.

I plan on getting hammered and yelling "CHURCH MOUTH" for the duration of their set.

I started with the Satan album, then went to Church Mouth based on a couple recommendations. I didn't find myself absolutely hooked though until I heard Censored Colors. That album has a couple classics, and shows off their wide range.
I saw them live again the other night. I'm working on a live review. I'll post it here when I'm finished.

Sasquatch left me too broke to see them again a few weeks ago. I'm still recommending "It's Complicated Being a Wizard." Aside from the awesome title, the concept is pretty cool. If you have 24 minutes to kill and you want to go on a Portugal odyssey, you'll have a great time.

They are opening for Primus in September, rather peculiar pairing but should be great. Primus is amazing live.

Couple things: 1) Maybe this should get a move since they aren't on the lineup this year. 2) I think that "Its Complicated" is a very interesting first recommendation, haha. Zack (their bass player) told us the story of where that EP's name came from during what is pretty much my only DTGYDSATT moment. Mike Muldoon, who was Bear vs Shark's bass player, and Jason (Portugal's drummer- Also formerly of a short lived Portland band Konami Defense System) were playing Magic together in the green room while they were on tour together. John Gourley walked past and kind of snickered, and Mike Muldoon quickly turned and said "What? Its complicated being a wizard." True story.

gotta love Portugal. All of their stuff is great but Church Mouth has to be my favorite and the first album of theirs I picked up. Gotta love the bluesy, southern rock feel. It's excellent from start to finish. I just wish they'd play more songs from it when they preform live. The two times I've seen them the only song off it the play is My Mind.
