Pil isn't the greatest beer either. It may be a fair comparison.
Spirulina please tell me more about this small batch bourbon.

Basil Hayden, Elijah Craig, Knob Creek, Bakers, etc. Lots of those. Then again, I'm sure you can buy them in any liquor store in the Pacific Northwest.

I'm familiar with knob creek. Not a fan. I love me some Woodfords or even dirty bird.

I'll trade Canadian goods for American goods! I have access to super--southern things like Ale-8-1 and Grippos, small batch bourbon, canned boiled peanuts and poke sallet! I'm trying to remember where you said you were from, spirulina.

While on the topic of beer, I can't drink beer since I'm allergic to it, so I normally drink a cider (like Strongbow) to join in when others are drinking beer. Last time I was in the states I popped into Walmart and didn't see anything cider like in the beer section-- in the states, is this something I'd find only at an actual liquor store? or does Walmrt just not carry it? like I'll still be able to buy it at Safeway, etc. though. Know this pain. My friend doesn't drink beer and when we went on a big roadtrip she got some pretty strange looks when she asked for cider in the states. "Like, hot tea?" She got this at Safeway last year and it was pretty similar to Strongbow, just a little sweeter. I think it'd be hard to drink a bunch of it in a row.

The sweet, sweet appalachian mountains, lump.
Also, Woodchuck is probably the most popular cider that I've seen around here.

You can definitely buy cider at grocery stores in Washington. You won't find 2L bottles of it like you do in BC, but it is definitely available. This is wolfhat, but I don't mind being mistaken for the mighty Pea! And for any Rickard's White fans from Canada, if you can't find Rickards, try Blue Moon instead. It's generally quite similar. Blue Moon is WAY better IMO, but they do have their similarities and I agree that if one like Rickard's White they'll probably like BM. Don't bother bringing cheap beer like Pil, across the border. Unless you want to attract all the Saskatchewanians at Sasquatch. Ha. I've only been in SK for a month but I can completely understand where this statement comes from. I wasn't planning on bringing beer for drinking purposes... I just wanted to have Canadian beer for trading purposes. I asked friends and they said pilsner. Do you guys have any ideas?? I pretty much just drink vodka, which I will buy in the US I don't care if you're brushing your teeth with it. My point remains. If you insist on bringing beer across the border you gotta go with something local and delicious. buy Bud Lite or Coors Lite while state side. They're standard lagers that don't taste like ass. Dude, whaaaa? Bud Lite and Coors both taste exactly like ass. Like, exactly.I'm speaking relatively. There are far worse options out there. A few examples: Keystone, Ice House, Busch, Milwaukee's Be(a)st, Natural Ice, etc. I could mention malt liquors, but let's not sink that low.

I agree they're different, and I would also give the edge to Blue Moon for a number of reasons. Blue Moon really impresses me for a mass-market US beer, and it's widely available. I think part of the reason is that it's actually a proper-strength beer even as draft (5%ish) unlike a lot of American beers. Just the same, I know a lot of Rickard's White drinkers who will almost certainly enjoy BM if they haven't tried it yet. I've been known to drink Rickard's if I'm at a pub and want something in that ballpark and that's what they have, although i generally prefer Mill Street's Wit as I mentioned.

Probably Grasshopper, the draft is amazing! Especially if it's cold and on a warm day. Make sure you squeeze a piece of lemon into it though!

Especially Grasshopper actually, but I know plenty of people who do. I think I just had it too often in first year. There was a place on campus at UBC that served Trad and you could put it on your meal plan. I think I had enough in that one year for a lifetime.

KY mess Jr - If you avoid beer because of a gluten issue, there was a study of gluten content (done in Sweden, I think) and of those that were found to have no gluten, I've found 2 locally - Corona (blech) and Pilzner Urquell. I've tried both and haven't had any issues with them. I plan on stocking up an icebox full of Pilzner for the Squatch. Just an FYI for any fell GF folks who sorely miss beer! That is interesting to know, but unfortunately for me it's not the gluten (I can have that no problem) it's the actual wheat I'm allergic to. But I have quite few friends that are Celiac so I'll definitely be sharing this info!

How hard would it be to sneak my friends into the campground in the back of my jeep. Do they check cars as you enter the campground?
