Ok so this is going to be my first year to sasquatch and I wanted to create a thread to addrewss all of the questions that all of us first timers are bound to have. First off what is the food situation like? I want to spend as little money as possible there. What do you suggest bringing? Also after you enter the venue can you leave to go back to your campsite to eat, rest, drink ect... Thanks for the help Inside the venue, the food is rather terrible. I'm a vegetarian so the options are even worse. I paid $8 for a veggie wrap which was basically pita bread, shredded lettuce, tomatoes, and onions which ranch salad dressing. I would say bring in high protein granola bars, beef jerky and a piece of fruit. Vegetarians substitute the beef jerky for another snack like tofu jerky, nuts, or more fruit/veggies. Also, if you do decide on buying food in the venue, stick to deep fried foods. Not appetizing to some, but it's the best way to prevent food poisoning. And hell, you're walking, dancing, and sweating so much it's not going to make much difference on the waistline!

beer > food
and the gyros would be delicious if I ate meat! Otherwise it's an 800% price markup.
I didn't try the noodles...they looked a little too radioactive, if that even makes sense. Instead I survived on the elephant ears.
Hopefully this year it won't get so cold that I need to buy a $5 tea again.

Its hilarious how that post now makes absolutely no sense. In fact, it just looks like I'm confirming something we've known for a while. What I actually said was, is I a:te auto correcting to I 8.

Haha I saw she posted that and it didn't correct, must have turned the off or something. It would have been hilarious if it did and she was all WTF?

My group officially dubbed the noodles "Shit Noodles" after '09 but last year they must have changed up the recipe because they were actually damn decent and had recognizable meat in them. Between those and the gyros I managed to only spend about $15 on food each day and saved TONS of money by refusing to purchase any alcohol inside the venue. The giant lemonades give you your biggest bang for your buck and taste amazing with a little smuggled vodka.

I fully spent to much on drinks inside the festival last year. Got to find away around that this year but I am an awful liar, and I know I would lose my cool in the bag check and tell the checker everything I've ever done wrong in my life.
I'm like Jim Carey in Liar Liar.

Whoa, totally doing this now. Though I liked weak shit superfan (I was a huge board creeper before actually joining) Anyhow, I can see myself thinking of a devious vodka smuggling plan and forgoing it thinking i'll get caught. Hello $9 beers.

It's actually really damn easy if you do a little research.

Last year I brought in some energy bars (homemade with oats, crispy rice, nuts, and dried fruit), a pb&j for each person, and ziplocs with carrots and broccoli. That was pretty good for holding me over during the day. But I always eat a high protein breakfast. By the end of the weekend I always end up buying something in the venue because I am not quite as full of vim and vigor as I was when I started. I don't think there is a limit to what you can bring, but if you are carrying it around all day then you probably don't want a ton. Also it needs to be in clear plastic bags so Jive Nation can see it.

I made it 2 1/2 days last year eating just eggs w/rice and beans in the morning, dried fruit and trail mix during the day, and peanut butter bagels at night. I caved on Monday and had the best chicken strip basket of my life, and a huge fucking coke.
This year I'm bringing that pre-made Indian food in a bag, which sounds horrible but is delicious and not too bad for you either. I'm cramming 4 people and their stuff in my car, along with a ton of beer, so I'll be buying more food this year.

I'm cramming 4 people and their stuff in my car, along with a ton of beer, so I'll be buying more food this year. That's the most important thing. Before food--stock up on the booze! That's my belief, at least! We hit up Costco and brought in a case of Rogue, a few cans of Young's Double Chocolate Stout, and some six packs of Moose Drool. mmmm. And Stormy--for realz. You gotta show me the tricks about the homemade b'fast bars!

I will find the recipe. It was really easy and did not require any actual baking or anything.

Where to buy beer?
Hi, some friends and I are coming down for the first time from Vancouver. We are limited to government agencies pretty much for buying beer here. I know beer will be cheaper in the US, but I was wondering if anyone has any insight as to where it will be cheapest. Duty Free, gas station, grocery, liquor store? Sorry if this has been addressed but I couldn't find it.
Thanks!!
