So, I was wondering. What songs make you really feel like dancing?
I'm currently working on directing a 15 minute play to open next month for school. The script I'm doing is called Executive Dance. It's about suck-ups doing whatever they can do get another couch in their office. The latest company bonding exercise is (you guessed it) an executives-only dance. The company however only has "7 women execs. and about fifteen-hundred men". The characters Stephen and Jonathan do a rumba, foxtrot, waltz and a mambo while they gossip about offices and brown nosers. I'm going to use Kings of Convenience's I'd Rather Dance With You for the beginning but I'm struggling to find a more upbeat dance piece for the bows. I just figured this would be a good way to find some. (:

The first time I heard this song I literally broke into dance in the middle of my room:

Depending on how upbeat... Ghostland Observatory has that nice balance of rock and Justice type dancing; from the lower, slower beats from I'll be Suzi and Stranger Love, to Vibrate and Piano Man.
I've liked Caribou's newer sound off of Swim, songs like Kalil, Sun, and Leave House have a good beat to them. Sticking with some Sasquatch artists this year, (as it's been the majority of what's been in my ears,) Portugal the man has some decent music that I can imagine seeing worked into some type of dance, albeit interpreted or formal dancing.
