Most people have prob heard but MGMT is streaming their new album 'Congratulations' online: www.whoismgmt.com/IMO - its a strong sophomore (not really) effort that needs a few listens to fully reveal itself.

Not a fan...at all! It's kind of different weird but not that good. Especially when you compare it to most of the other bands at the fest. I don't even think they should be on the Sasquatch stage.

except they're selling more albums in the world than pretty much EVERY other artist on the bill this year. ya, let's just throw them on the yeti stage around noon.

I agree that they seem out of place and if that mock schedual rings true I don't think that they are much of a sub-headliner. Band of Horses should play before Ween!
While we're on the subject of bands that seem out of place I also feel that OkGo are an odd choice for this festival. But whatever...I have no intention of watching them anyways...just wanted to throw that out there.

People are really challenging MGMT's reign of commercial supremacy? Get real, folks.

Huge album sales doesn't always translate into bands being good on record or live.(I'm not citing examples, there are plenty) I have listened to all their (MGMT) music and prefer to see almost any other band on this bill. IMO, they need/deserve to play later in the day but not on the main stage because of the other acts that day and therefore would be better suited headlining the 2nd stage.

Good show or no, it seems festival times usually (if other circumstances don't conflict) have set times and stage-placing decided by which artists would bring the most people. Even if their live show might be awful, they are the ones that brought us Time to Pretend, Electric Feel, and Kids which are basically, as my girlfriend calls them, the "drunk party anthems" of college greek life (well college parties in general) everywhere. This band will be able to bring TONS of people just based on that fact alone. My 2 cents. I personally don't really like Oracular Spectacular at all. (If I hear the opening line to Time to Pretend, I will probably vomit both because I've probably vomited with it as background music to any and every party and because i'm just so fucking sick of that song.) That being sad, I can't stop listening to Gongratulations. It might just be me, it seems that this one is a little less electronic and a little more rock (which could be bad for some people).
