Usually I do Bonnaroo, I heard Sasquatch has shorter sets and no late nights, is this true?
How long do headliners play for and when do the stages close (if they do)?
Also if someone has an idea for how long a side stage and main stage act (not headliner) usually plays for that would be great.
Still excited either way, thanks.

You can get an idea for how long bands play by checking out past schedules. Here is 2009: sasquatchfestival09.sched.org/ Set times vary based on when a band places, what stage, etc. etc. The 2010 schedule will come out in two months or so. (Emphasis on "or so.") I've never been to Bonnaroo, but I'm going to safely guess that, excepting the Flaming Lips' film debut in 08, there will be nothing like Bonnaroo's "late night" shows.

Which frankly, is just fine by me. By 10 pm last year I was worked over from so much sun and music, as soon as the last bands finish up ya head back to the campground and get some partying started.

Exactly. After going from stage to stage and getting sunburned for twelve hours, it's time to stop paying $10 a beer and retreat to your campsite to get drunk on the cheap.

with a bigger dance tent I could see later times.
The main stage guys end between 10-12....varies on the band.

On the partying after the fest: seems like a lot of people were in the same boat as iron. The party was great Friday night, everyone was out and meeting new people. Saturday night there were certainly fewer people out, and Sunday & Monday nights I barely saw anybody out. That being said the weather was deadly last year, it sucked so much energy out of me personally. Drinking on the cheap saved me last year, especially with the exchange rate at the time. Back on topic: I'm ok with the set times the way they are, because I plan to be at the fest from 12 or 1 right until the last set. That's close to 11-12 hours in the burning sun, and definitely worth the price of admission.

no kidding about the sun wiping people out. i think it was in the low 80s last year but it felt like 100+ for some reason. the heat made me sick to my stomach a couple times, forcing me to miss half of the yeah yeah yeahs set after each sweltering day last year i was more than content with heading back to the campground at 10 or 11. they really should have some dance tent acts going into the early morning hours for people that want to keep partying though.

Not trying to call you out, but the temps last year were in the mid 90's during the day. It felt hot because it was hot. And it was very draining. I was sucking down waters and beers because it was sweltering. But we didn't have any rain or hail or whatever. I'm hoping it wont be as hot this year, but I think I would rather have the heat than crazy hailstorms.

Last year was fucking insane. Probably the only time I've ever found myself in a crowd of thousands, cheering because a cloud had slowly meandered in front of the sun for twenty seconds.

This will be my first time at a festival where stages close super early and nothing (band-wise) is going on from night to morning. Done lots of Bonnaroo and Europe fests, the late nights were always the best and a s long as your able to take the monday or tuesday off you worry about rest then. Still looking forward to check out this view especially with MMJ, Massive Attack, Drive-By Truckers and Ween. I really don't know what I'll do with myself at 12:30am!!!!! Anyone know why they shut it down so early???

What will you do at 12:30 am? Find a group of people, get drunk, and make some friends. OR wander around wailing about how much better it is at other festivals. (HINT: YOU ARE LESS LIKELY TO MAKE FRIENDS THIS WAY)

Thats your best bet. Its not Bonnaroo, where there is something going on all the time. Friday night its pretty crazy in the campground as everyone is ready to get with the party.

(HINT: YOU ARE LESS LIKELY TO MAKE FRIENDS THIS WAY) It's not the issue that other festivals are better than Sasquatch.. no one is saying that - it's just that there are many people out there who can watch shows in the sun all day, and still have enough energy for late night shows. quit taking everything so personally and immediately launch into an offensive. no one is criticizing you OR sasquatch. no need to accuse people of being 'a filthy smelly hippie' - it's a weak argument. as far as I can tell, no one's accusing you of being a 'left coast anal douche'... until now, at least. just calm down, already.

False: "a filthy smelly hippie" is a winning line of argument every time.

Just say "Evergreen student". It's more concise, accurate, and it's funny to boot I can't believe way out in the Gorge they have a noise ordinance though (I'm not saying I don't, I'm just puzzled by the concept of doing so)

Beginning to wonder if it exists at all.

I'm also used to seeing bands at festivals till the wee hours, in fact that's usually when my favorite sets happen. I see people's point that by the time they've been on site for 11-12 hours, they are ready to go back to the site and chill/drink on the cheap/meet like minded-festival goers... But what if the music started at 3 or 4 pm, and went till 3 or 4 am, then we would be able to enjoy the bands in the cooler hours of the day. Just saying... (1st post woohoo)
