While conflicts definitely aren't ideal, they really aren't as bad once you get to a festival. For anyone going to a festival for your first time I wouldn't get too worked up. From the people I've gone with I've never had anyone been remotely upset when all was said and done. So much goddamn fun just getting to a fest and buzzin around, if you have a wide taste sometimes your mood for what type of band you wanna see will depend on the experience you've just had. You'd be surprised how many people I know have happily missed one of their top 5 due to needed rest or some other thing. Those who have gone and are stressin', hope she all works out for you.

That's mostly true, friendly, but there was one glaring exception: 2008, when The National showed up late and I had to miss them so I could see Modest Mouse (the ultimate trump card).
Otherwise, the conflict stress is just a fun way to get excited about the festival.

That was of the most brutal decisions I've ever made at a fest, I went with the national and saw one of the greatest concerts I've ever seen that turned the national into one of my favorite modern bands and I still made it back for the end of MM....but in the end I think I would have been happy either way, so you can't really loose.

I saw the National in a club on their Boxer tour, Dr. Garbanzoured an intimate setting would best serve their music, but man was it a supreme let down. They were still decent, but compared to what a lot of other bands can do on stage, and the fact that I really love their albums (since before Alligator) - dissapointment. Matt Berninger's voice records so well, live was bad.

The National is stellar live, but by all means everyone should stay away from the main stage during their set so I can get closer.

I've seen Vampire Weekend twice, including once this most recent January when they were going through a lot of the stuff on Contra. I love 'em a whole bunch, but I've seen them twice, they don't change their stuff up that much over the course of a single tour, and my dad, who pays for most of this, is a fan of Public Enemy.

vampire weekend is tolerable, but just about anything decent on the wookie stage will draw me away. the average vampire weekend fans aren't people i'd want to be around. they'll probably be up against public enemy, which i'll go to see just to say i did. it's probably likely that tegan and sara will conflict with the xx, and new pornos with mgmt. those are painful for me.

I've still never seen VW, so I'll give them a listen this time around. Although I'll probably escape the front stage area during that set. Even if it means I won't be quite as close as I'd like for MMJ. I've got the same stance on Public Enemy as you scough. Maybe I'll see half of each set, or rather the way the line-up is looking now I might only catch the tail end of PE after the National...hmm. Only a few more months till we get the official schedule and then really know what conflicts we'll all have.
