that's a pretty depressing change if they're taking some bands that would have otherwise been in a 5pm or so mainstage slot and pooping them to headlining wookie. there's literally no advantage to this, and it only creates more conflicts.

In years past I really haven't had much issues with bands that I've been dying to see overlapping with others that I'm looking forward to seeing. Unfortunately for me, that won't be the case this year:
Saturday -The Hold Steady/Public Enemy back to back basically negating Vampire Weekend as well as Public Enemy cutting into My Morning Jacket
Sunday -The tail end of Dirty Projectors set will coincide with Pavement and there's no way I'm missing a second of Pavement's set -Girls vs. Tegan and Sara, seen both so I don't know which way I'll go with that one.
Monday -No Age will probably coincide with most of She & Him's set and even though I've yet to see She & Him, No Age are going to most likely win out

On a side note that has nothing to do with the topic of this thread (but rather the idea of it, my apologies) my biggest problem with sasquatch (besides all that no reentry bullshit) is that the stages are set up as a hierarchy of bands. The larger acts play the main, the new buzz bands/indie acts play the wookie and the smaller bands play the Yeti. The schedules are then designed to rank the bands in the order that sasquatch views their popularity. This bugs me for two reasons, one you inevitably get a bunch of conflicts at the end of the day which we are seeing here, but even more than that it turns the event into more of a "concert" than a "festival." What I mean by this is at other festivals i've attended a lot of the fun comes in wondering from stage to stage and catching some good mid days acts before going back to the campground and resting up for the headliners. It would be cool if sasquatch put some of the bigger wookie acts on during the early part of the day, then faded into some weaker ones then maybe closed out with a big one. Same thing with the Yeti. I also think some smaller bands on the main in exchange for some larger bands on the Wookie would add to the festival feel of catching different acts in different stages (giving the feel of a different venue).....well thats my rant....take to for what its worth.
oh and for the record I'm most concerned about the dr.dog/camera obscura vs. Band of Horses/MGMT situation

I generally try to base my decision on who I've seen before and which of the two conflicting bands I'll have a better chance of seeing later down the road. I will definately skip Vampire Weekend to see Public Enemy since the chances of seeing Vampire Weekend later are better. But dammit I love The Hold Steady and The National...seen both before but not sure which to see this time!

On the other hand, you ever hear of Ghostland Observatory? I know I have. Maybe the Breeders? There was also this guy from another band that broke up a bunch of years ago, his name's Stephen Malkmus. Do the Saturday Knights get name recognition outside of the northwest? What the hell is Total Experience Gospel Choir? But I HAVE heard of the Beastie Boys and Grizzly Bear. In conclusion, your "the main stage gets bigger bands than the Wookie stage" critique is just flatly wrong. And if you came to the festival because you are attracted to the bands who play in the last four hours, and you can't find yourself enjoying anyone who plays between noon and seven, then you suck.

The real "rank by popularity" is the t-shirt/poster/anything else that lists all the bands in one large mass.

How about the cost of band t-shirts as another popularity factor? NIN, JA and KOL all had expensive stuff vs. Fleet Foxes, Of Montreal and John Vanderslice. Although there is a wildcard in Street Sweeper Social Club, their shirts were $35...they played at 1 or 2 on the main stage. This is meant to be humourous.

I don't know I8...his points have merit... Look at this thread in particular. Have you noticed anybody with conflicts before 4pm? I have seen 1 so far, Patrick Watson vs. Laura Marling. Admit it, more popular bands often play later in the day.

Admit it, more popular bands often play later in the day. I'm not doubting that. Here are the two contentions I take issue with: 1.) Band popularity is ranked by stage. 2.) There aren't good bands playing throughout the day. My problems with these: 1.) Band popularity is better measured by when they play. Plenty of no-name bands play early in the day on the main stage; plenty of larger bands play in the evening on the Wookie stage. 2.) There are plenty of awesome things to discover throughout the course of the day. I saw Mad Rad for the first time at Sasquatch; they started at noon; it was a ridiculously entertaining show.

If I'm not reading about how you think Ween sucks or how much better the Pixies or Modest Mouse would be in that spot then I'm reading about how you practically discovered some bands last year and they actually gave you your own personal show......."I swear, I was the only one there".... Please shut your trap already you idiot!

As for The Gaslight Anthem, many people came out early and saw them, but very few of them came out early to see them. Maybe two other guys were getting excited as well. In any event: THE POINT ----> * YOUR HEAD -----> *

Does anyone know what time The Yeti Stage headliners usually end? I want to see Why? on Saturday but not at the risk of missing the main stage acts that I want to see the most, like BSS and The National. Also on Sunday I would love to check out Vetiver but the Wookie stage is loaded with acts that I want to see all day (at least until LCD/Pavement/Massive Attack take over the main stage).

Wow, I thought that a fact was just that, a fact. You stated that you were the only person that came out to see them, now you say that isn't so. What else are you going to lie about?
You continue to respond by attempting to cut me down and avoiding the actual response, you have done this since I have joined the board to everyone on here. You say that you hated the "bros" last year but you wanted Modest Mouse to headline, this would bring out just as many as last year. The way you talk tough and act like a monkey (as well as MM being your favorite band) I would have to say that you are a bro, thus you should stay away from the festival this year as you are not needed.

It's like a weird political smear ad ("What else is InterstateEight not telling us about his policies?") mixed with near-incomprehensible playground taunts ("like a monkey"? What does that even mean?). And I am going to be at this festival bro-ing down hard. I'll be the guy without a shirt on drunkenly hitting on your girlfriend and calling everyone a ******. GET STOKED.

I do wish that all 4 stages/tent went all hours of the day ala Coachella. This would allow them to fit more acts in and would allow for more variety. I mean I like Ween and all but it would be nice to see someone go against them on the wookie or yeti stage (I am not a dance tent kind of fella). This would also help flush out the main stage a little bit. Just a thought.

yeah dude maybe your right and my music taste just isn't up to your par, I try to make to to three or four fests a year though and sasquatch always seems to have by far the worst conflicts, that also could just be just my music taste (you were also comparing those who play the side stages late in the evening/night to those that open the main, thus proving my point). your response was pretty funny from my perspective though, based on my knowledge of you though this message board I'm just curious, have you ever threatened to hit your girlfriend because she she put on trendy/popular music when the two of you were in the car?
