So like the title says... We were thinking of renting a good size uhaul box van to lay some mattresses in and such. Do they allow those in the regular camping section at the Gorge? Or would you have to go to the RV section? We swear we have seen others doing it over the years at various Gorge concerts, but our memories are a little fuzzy when it comes to those weekends. What do you guys think? Have you seen people doing it?

I thought about doing this when I was 18 and trying to Dr. Garbanzoure out how to get to the Gorge, since I didn't have a car.
I don't think U-Haul rents vans outside of city limits, so you'll have to get a truck. Enjoy driving that to the Gorge, covering gas, and dealing with maneuvering through a crowded campsite.
Honestly, here's my advice: Rent a mid-sized SUV and a tent from REI. This method has always worked for me.

Well, first off, I have a vehicle...and a tent. Second, I took into consideration the gas and size - that's not going to be a problem. We have just been spoiled taking a Vanagon Westfalia to the Gorge the last couple of times.
I guess I just want to know if it would be allowed in the general camping area...

You will be fine. I ended up partying in the back of a rather big uhaul last year full of couches. Its a legit idea.

You definitely can. I have rented a UHaul trailer before and brought that in.
Its great for bad weather, and it is a choice place to nail hood rats in.

Mine used padlocks so you could lock out the mechanism to avoid that.

Looks like I stand corrected. If this works out, you'll notice me at the festival (I'll be the guy applauding you).
