I guess my opinion is invalidated because this is going to be my first visit to the Gorge but based on looking at previous lineups, it looks like the top portion is maybe a bit weaker but overall it is just as good if not better than most years. A lot of bands in the middle or bottom that I'm looking forward to seeing. What do you guys think?
definitely much weaker at the top compared to the years i've been there (08 and 09). this is by no means the final lineup though, its just what they've booked so far. they could still add bands that poop any of the top three out of a headlining slot. compared to previous years the sub-headliners and middle of the lineup bands are just as good if not better.
i wasn't talking shit on the whole lineup (which i think is great), i just think the top three aren't really true headliners. if they added soundgarden and another big name to top it off, this would slay coachella and bonnaroo.
The headliners bring a lot less star power then years past. But the music quality is much much higher. This is the first year I will likely watch all three headliners as opposed to one or zero. Also I kinda like the lack of huge names because it might help to keep the crowds down a little.
I don't know when I was throwing around Massive Attack, everybody was saying they are too big to play at sasquatch, now because they are listed after MMJ now there not big enough,
I do agree that the under card is the best I' ve seen
the headliners where better in 2008, but I' ve always wanted to see MMJ and Massive Attack. It's really pavement I could do without( i wouldn't mind if the sub headlined.) I doubt they would add anyone else, although we can keep our fingers crossed,
The subheadliners have been better in the past, but still pretty Good,
All in all, not the best Sasquatch but pretty close if you take the whole lineup.

Tough to compare to other lineups because of the lack of star Power (as stated earlier). I still think 2006 was the strongest overall line-up but I'm more than happy this year. Sometimes you can't please everyone but I'm certainly pleased this year.
explosions aren't as big as sigur ros or mogwai...the belt sander two would be insane. explosions are great, but they were actually there...what--last year? two years ago? I think this is the most consistently good lineup Sasquatch has ever had and I don't care about the lack of star power...I'm just not sold on Ween. I'll take MMJ headlining and massive attack-pavement is superb but ween-mgmt? really?
the best lineup is still 2005 but this one is definitely comparable
(just for reminders 05 had pixies, modest mouse, kanye, wilco, arcade fire, bloc party....all in one day...can you imagine that line up today?)
No... because only Pixies and perhaps Wilco were at their relative commercial height in 05. Not to say I wouldn't have loved going, of course.
commercial sure but the rest were at a creative peak. I saw bloc party tour silent alarm, arcade fire tour funeral (amazing), and kanye on the college dropout tour. Nowadays Kanye, Wilco, and The arcade fire could probably all headline their own day.

2006 was my favorite as far as depth is concerned but 2007 w/ the Arcade Fire and Bjork was great. I didn't make it last year unfortunately and while there were more bands I knew last year the bands I want to see this year I want to see WAY, WAY more. My Morning Jacket doing a full set at night at the Gorge!!! Good Lord! And the temper trap, Drive-By Truckers, Hold Steady, the National, She & Him.... yikes!
as far as the excitement factor goes, i'm looking forward to this year more than the past two even with the absence of strong headliners. there's likely still around 15 bands to be added, so it's only going to get better. seeing two of my dream women (emily haines and zooey deschanel) at the same festival is pretty hard to beat
