^^^Your favorite albums of the year were from the Felice Brothers and Monsters of Folk. I agree, they are both great albums and I commend you on your musical tastes. What bothers me is that Adam Snacks has gone out and gotten a dozen acts that are musically similar to these acts - but you only want to see two of them!!!
Dr. Dog, City and Colour, Mumford and Sons, Midlake, Vetiver, Edward Sharpe, Tallest man on Earth, The Low Anthem, MMJ, She and Him, The Mountain Goats, the long winters...
You may not like all of them, that's understandable, but honestly open your eyes!
You want diverse tastes, but at the same time you want huge headliners...well evidently that can't happen at this facility if Adam Snacks wants to guarantee a profit he is comfortable with (and I am certainly okay with him making a healthy profit - he puts on what has annually been one of my favorite weekends).
And you didn't pay $270 for those tickets, so don't start claiming that you did, you bought them when they were cheaper, and suffered the risk of a lineup that paid off for all of us, except you.

You raise some interesting points and I appreciate your tact and appreciate the fact that you know who the felice brothers are.
However, because he got similar acts doesn't mean I have to like them. If someone likes 50 cent, do they have to like Kanye West? No. They are both rappers but they are different acts. I'm not a genre person, but rather I'm into certain artists in many genres and dislike many artists in those same genres. Just because I really, really like MMJ doesn't mean that I have to love Dr. Dog. Instead I would have liked to see The Felice Brothers, Oakley Hall, The Black Angels or any number of smaller national acts that I think kick ass. Its not that I don't know these bands this year, I'm just not really into their stuff. There are a lot of bands playing and I definitely like more than the two that you claim but overall its a big disappointment to me. In a way you're proving my point...there are too many bands that are too similar on the lineup and I suppose that sums up much of my complaint. I have no problem with the bands that are going to be there but I would like some musical diversity. I know everyone will say LCD soundsystem is very diverse from she and him, and they will be right but there are a bunch of similar bands to those two also playing as you pointed out. I don't ever love every band that comes to sasquatch, nobody except adam zachs does. I've been to four sasquatchs (didn't go last year though) and I loved the lineups and just because I don't agree with this year's lineup doesn't mean that I have bad taste in music. Were all those other years that I loved bad lineups then and this is the first good one, because that is the implication when I'm accused of having bad tastes?
I want A big headliner at least one night. I didn't like it when R.E.M. was a headliner but at least I didn't feel ripped off and there were pretty big subheadliners playing before them. They are a big band and it justified the cost of the weekend, even though they sucked. But the Cure fucking rocked, and if they add a big name like that this year, at least there is a chance to have an amazing night like that one. It seems like they got the up and comers, got the subheadliners and then stopped short of a complete lineup.
Yes, I did take a gamble by buying tickets early but that was based on the outstanding lineups of the previous years, which in my opinion, this year fell far short of. I know people who bought tickets this week and they had to pay over 270 dollars, which is a ripoff considering the long list of still up and coming bands with no true headliners (except maybe MMJ but I saw them at Coachella and they were subheadliners for Roger Waters perfoming Dark Side of the Moon, see the difference). They weren't in love with the lineup, but like you, they enjoy the weekend away at the gorge and don't believe that the true headliners have been announced yet, so they coughed up the money anyways. It is literally 400 dollars just for the tickets and the camping for people who want to buy now, and most people did not take the risk at get them early.
I love up and coming bands and that's one thing I love about sasquatch but they need to mix it up and spend a little bit of that 12 dollar a beer money on something. It's perfectly plausible that I won't even like an added headliner but at least I won't feel like I'm being taken advantage of if they do add one. I'm all for them making a nice buck but they need to justify the price tag with bigger acts to accompany the up and comers. To repeat myself, a true "deep lineup" also includes heavy hitters. I personally think there will be an addition of a bigger name for Sunday but maybe not.

They most definitely not taking advantage of you, you just think they are. Do yourself a favor and actually take a listen to the bands on the line up you might even surprise yourself

I'm not reading all that; however, I will concede that you have a right to dislike the lineup and believe it unfair etc etc. I'm not objecting to you in this post, methodacting, but these people...

...and anyone else who thinks the headliners are still to come are fucking retarded.

Wow, a literate Chili Peppers fan? You had to listen to them because of a significant other, right?
Kidding, I also love the Felice Brothers, and it was one of my favorite albums last year. But I disagree with your baseball analogy. A true deep lineup means your 7, 8, and 9 hitters are nearly as capable as your middle of the order. It means there are no easy outs. Not everyone can be the Yankees.
Speaking of the Yankees, they are like Coachella. They have the budget and attendance to pay for the deep lineup plus the heavy hitters. Other teams in smaller markets can't afford both, so they either pay their big hitters, and surround them with chumps (Sasquatch 07), or fill their lineup with cheaper up and coming high average hitters with a little pop (Sasquatch 2010). Remember that Sasquatch's attendance is a third of Coachella, like the Devil Rays budget is a third of the Yankees. The Devil Rays can still compete with the Yankees though, by spending their money wisely, rather than throwing it at any Paul McCartney and Prince that hits the market.
I guess what I am trying to say is, screw all of you aholes, get the hell off this board. Wait, is there a thread for that yet?
I meant, shoot, I hate the lineup. What thread is this again?
EDIT: And in no way am I saying LiveNation/Ticketmaster doesn't have the budget that Goldenvoice does, just that they don't have the extra 40,000 people spending $500 a pop. That would be an extra 20 million to pay for three bigger headliners, and additional staff to accommodate those extra 40,000. And I'm not criticizing your musical taste either, just making fun of the Chili Peckers.

You may not realize this but Sasquatch is actually more expensive than Coachella. A 3 day pass to Coachella with camping will cost you 370 dollars right now and the same set up at Sasquatch will cost about 400 dollars. Compare the money they are spending on acts and the the money sasquatch is spending on acts and try to tell me again that we aren't being ripped off by Live Nation.
I actually left Coachella before Prince even took the stage. However, Sasquatch has been going for on for nine years and have never had any sort of problem "affording" real headliners, so what makes this year different? To go back to your analogy, it would be like if the Devil Rays had Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez for the last ten years but now out of nowhere just can't afford real players so they are going to play a bunch of quality minor leaguers. Logically, your argument that they can't afford big names doesn't follow based on the fact that sasquatch has had big names every single year except this year and it actually costs more to attend Sasquatch than Coachella.
I think the headliners for Saturday and Monday this year are actually almost on par with other years of Sasquatch but they need to spend a couple bucks and get ONE actual headliner this year. I'm not saying they can or should add 3 huge names, just one to justify the ticket prices. I don't think that is unreasonable considering the 400 dollars cost just for tickets and camping. I've never seen the Chili Peckers play anywhere, so its not like im a superfan, just one of many possible bands they could get to fill up the lineup. I mean really, who wants to watch the Devil Rays play? Their lineup is lacking and boring. See my point? Sasquatch now costs more to attend than Coachella, but a Yankees game will cost a lot more than a Devil Rays game.

Here's the thing, at first glance I was not completely blown away with the year's line-up. I was not dissapointed by any means either. I had to do some research and listen to some new artists and get into some established artists who were biggest in the 90s. I gave every single act on the line-up a chance (or am in the process of doing so). The only thing I can report is that I am getting more and more excited every day. I keep finding new and exciting artists (Mumford & Sons, The Middle East, Midlake, Freelance Whales, Vetiver, No Age, The Temper Trap), and re-discovering older acts that I might not have been into during their biggest years (MA, Ween, Nada Surf, Pavement).
I guess my point is that I don't need anyone else to "love" this line-up. I'd just like them to give these artist a chance. I would have loved to see Frightened Rabbit, Margot & The Nuclear So & So's, Andrew Bird, Okkervil River, Rilo Kiley and Arcade Fire but they are not on the line-up. I've just discovered so many other talented acts, that I've gotten over it. Then again this is Sasquatch, the music is important but the atmosphere is incredible regardless. My $170 pass is well worth it just to camp/party and check out the gorge. The music is a bonus.
Listen I've been reading this board for a while and interstateeight ya need to lighten up, it is a little embarassing to this board. People can have terrible taste in music, it's okay. It doesn't look okay when you see playground threats and lame name calling.
I love when posters who joined this month get all indignant over my posting style. I do not give a shit if you are offended, or if you think I need to lighten up. I will continue pointing out when people suck, just like I will continue fixing your posts when you do not format them correctly (learn the youtube tag, people!), I will continue helping people listen to Sasquatch bands, I will continue helping new posters with their (not too repetitive) questions, and I will continue boosting the rumors thread... when it comes around again next year.
Until then, methodacting is a god damn idiot, and I don't have it in me to read his long empty posts anymore.

I knew you were fake poster!!! Give it up and hit the bricks.
Plus I love when being offensive becomes a point of pride:)

Plus, how do you tag youtube videos?
HAHAHA A+ response
Here's how youtube works, everyone:
1.) Pick your video. Let's say I want to appreciate the fine musicianship of Red Hot Chili Peppers, who do not care about image and are Legitimate Artists (R). So I pick the following video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=06Dql7EiMWE
2.) Then, click the youtube tag. It will look like this: (youtube)(/youtube) EXCEPT instead of parentheses, there will be brackets.
3.) Then, take the part of the link that comes after watch?v= which, in this instance, is 06Dql7EiMWE.
4.) Then, put THAT between the youtube tags. It will look like this, but once again -- brackets instead of parentheses: (youtube)06Dql7EiMWE(/youtube)
how are we being "ripped off" by live nation? just from ticket sales and camping coachella has at least 3 times the money to play with for booking bands, so no shit they're going to have bigger names on their lineup.
