On a completely unrelated note, what about Jimmy Eat World? To be real, I have no reason to believe they'll be there aside from the fact that they are playing Soundwave Festival in February so at least they are still in business and doing festivals! (even though it's in Australia haha) It's not out of the question, but there's no way in hell save something horrible that they headline.

I think this sentence is missing a couple words, I'm not really sure what you're trying to say...

Alright, let me try that again without pronouns.
Jimmy Eat World playing at Sasquatch! is not out of the question, but there's no way in hell save something horrible that Jimmy Eat World headlines.

I honestly would love to see JEW play Sasquatch! as long as they didn't play anything newer than Bleed American. They really went to shit after that album. Unfortunately, i don't really think they would fit the genres the festival tries to cover.

Also keep in mind ticket prices went up. It's possible they went up based on the size of one or even 2 of the unannounced headliners. Of course it's entirely possible they went up based only on inflation prices. I'm still stumped, but I love a good guessing game. it's what, 20 dollars difference, or is it more? I've forgotten. 20 bucks is about 7 a day, that's not abnormal in year to year jumps unfortunately

Yeah like $30, but those are just the pre-sales. The regular 3-day pass will be at least $185 or $190.

30 dollars x 30000 people=$600000 , that's enough for maybe two headliners or maybe a down payment for Gorillaz, eh Andimac. I know they maybe a shot in the dark but I do think there is a better chance of the Gorillaz than Radiohead
Also one more headliner we haven't discussed is Massive Attack. Discuss ....

i already suggested gorillaz and got shot down earlier in the topic, but I'm with you that it would be awesome and would fit. I can't argue with the probability that they'd cost a lot though. Regardless, if Gorillaz are playing more than one show in the US, and not Bonnaroo, where would their other shows be? They'd have to be booked at some big venues/festivals. I maintain that it fits, but isn't likely. I considered that Massive Attack just came out with some new material, but they're such a big deal...I'd put them in a different league than most of the headliners Sasaquatch gets, plus their style has a lack of representation there. I've got no other ideas. I just have to see what happens. If the headliners aren't anything we discussed thoroughly here, I'll be surprised, but it can totally happen

Their set was still like an hour long. And let's not forget what happened in 06: Crazy hail storm set the main stage behind schedule. All the acts due to play where fully prepared to accommodate the crazy weather and put on a great show at a slightly later time, and to also shorten their sets if need be... EXCEPT FOR BEN HARPER. Ben Harper insisted that he go on at the originally scheduled time and play his full set. Which meant the Flaming Lips had to go on after him. Which meant I had to sit through two hours of that asshole and his stupid songs. Yes... yes, I am still bitter about this. As much as I hate Ben Harper, part of his set was really cool that year. I think he gets bad pub for "demanding" he play at the correct time slot. It was more about him having to catch a flight to play another show, and the Flaming Lips not. Either way, it was my second favorite music moment ever. Standing there in shorts and a t-shirt, waiting for the Flaming Lips, who I'd never heard before, after spending five hours freezing to death.

At risk of derailing, what was the first? Arcade Fire marching out of the Crystal Ballroom and playing their finale in the middle of Burnside (a major road in Portland). They shut down traffic for 15 minutes at midnight on a Tuesday. It was already a spectacular show before that. Wolf Parade was the opener.

I am infinitely jealous. That's amazing. And something you'd never see happen in Seattle either

The Stranger is basically saying they will headline. Maybe this just happened in the last couple days?

Isn't the Stranger pulling their info from the blog this board is nominally for? If not, basically the message I've been getting is:
Sasquatch wants them. They aren't confirmed yet, but that doesn't mean they won't be. That could translate into them being a late addition and someone getting pooped as a headliner, or that weird ass Friday thing, or something else entirely.
Part of the problem re: Soundgarden is despite Chris Cornell saying he was getting the band back together, they haven't really figured their shit out yet.

When I first read the Stranger article the other night, I only briefly looked at it, and recall it saying, "Word on the street is Soundgarden will be there, check it out," then copying and pasting the blog. I believe they updated it, because I don't recall it looking like it does now. lineout.thestranger.com/lineout/archives/2010/02/11/who-do-you-thinks-playing-sasquatchThe way it reads now, it says, "check out the blog, and word on the street is the blog is right about Soundgarden." Anyone know if the Stranger has been dishing out insider information in the past?

I think it is a guess at best, I just think that they got back together to late to be booked. The only way I see them headlining is if they were a late addition and were added on after pavement, my guess is that they will tour north america later in the summer.

I recently saw someone claiming to know the headliners (who was obviously wrong) on another web site, but they did mention Tom Petty. I am 99% positive no one has mentioned this possibility, and since this is the headliners thread, it seems like a rumor that might hold water.
Tom Petty did headline the only Pemberton, another LiveNation production. I don't recall anyone ever listing Tom Petty as a possibility on this board, but I wouldn't be surprised if he ever did headline Sasquatch.

petty would blow my mind (and pemberton was amazing, damn shame it ended) but when he headlined that year he was in the mist of a huge tour (starting with the super bowl if i remember right) and on top of that two of the tour stops were a two night stint at the gorge.....
could it happen....for sure, but i think he falls in the same group as perl jam
