Does anyone think that any more headliners/sub headliners be added? The name's just seem so much smaller than the headliners in years past. It just seems incomplete to me. Yes, everyone gets that notion. It's been said many times on this board. So many repetitive posts... and MSbands is talking about acts that get added, not headliners or subheadliners, which is what you asked about in the first place. So not only should you discount any "secret announcements" MSbands has to offer, but you should also question his close reading skills.

I am quite alright with MMJ and Massive Attack, but the idea of Ween headlining a night at a major festival just baffles me. I love Ween's music, but they are, in my mind, a novelty band. There are at least 30 acts in this lineup I am excited to see, but I can't see how they are going to have much success selling tickets when they have about as much "star power" as the much cheaper Pitchfork festival, which caters to the same indie crowd.

yeah i think the lineup is great. i'm completely excited, but Ween is freaking me out too. Pavement was debated, but I think most people had accepted that they would headline. Maybe my experience has been unusual, but I live in the NW and I know tons people who were stoked on Pavement. I don't know anyone that cares about Ween. I'm trying to get into them, but I'm not seeing it... its hilarious how under the radar Ween still is... they are incredible live... do you and all your friends attending a favor and pickup the Live in Chicago DVD and watch with an open mind....

Did I miss something along the way stating that Ween is headlining? I've been on vacation and might still be in sleep mode but I thought that the headliners are Pavement, Massive Attack and MMJ?

You really couldn't be bothered to go to sasquatchfestival.com if you doubt what we've been posting about for two pages and in multiple other threads?

Whoops...I checked just after i posted and realized my mistake but you beat to it. I looked the day the lineup was announced and nothing was there...as said i was on vacation and am still half asleep. But thanks for pointing out my error! It's appreciated. Dick!!
Doesn't matter anyways since they should be fairly entertaining.

Worth noting that Ween did headline one of the stages (they have two equally big stages going at the same time) at Lollapalooza in 2006 so this is not an unheard of task for them

yup massive shows at red rocks aswell.. last one i heard was co-headlining with flaming lips
I'm tired of reading things from people who know close to nothing about the band.. you are the same people that initially scared me away from them! Their set at Sasquatch will be as much a musical treat as it will be a massive party (especially if they end with LMLYP and let all the girls on stage).. People blow them off as this novelty band, jam band etc but really they show just how pretentious a lot of other bands are when they take themselves too seriously. Yes they have humor in their music and like to have a good time but they also have a serious side which generally goes under the radar.
Their live show to me is what a real rock show is supposed to be. Fun and exciting but honest and passionate. They have amazing musicianship and a strong sense of original songwriting. Also, the uncanny ability to write great songs regardless of the genre. This isn't parodying or making fun of music, this is celebrating it! Sounds just like yours Phishs and Widespread Panics right? haha! Jam bands noodle around! solo at incredibly unnecessary speeds... essentially jerking off their instruments for all to see. Ween takes an actual song and pushes it to its absolute limit live. That's the difference! Not to mention they have one of the most genuinely underrated guitar players in rock history (along with i'd say J. Mascis).
Anyways these aren't exaggerations.. no other band have I taken a complete 180 on when I dove a little deeper than these hooligans. I hated them at first and they've now become one of my favorites! Maybe Sasquatch can lead more down the same glorious path like it did for me. I'm sure their insane dedicated fan base will be flying in from everywhere to see this show. My recommendation if you're interested is start with the White Pepper album and the Live In Chicago DVD and do not miss their set. end rant!

I'm not for or against Ween and I know a lot of people here have this ridiculous bias against long instrumental solos. Maybe it takes a certain person to hear the spontaneous emotion in this kind of music but I tend to think the people that hate "jam bands" generally prefer pop hooks and that's about it. I like a bit of everything but I certainly see the value in groups like Widespread Panic, Phish, Gov't Mule, etc. If you don't like them, that's cool. But to say they're "jerking off their instruments for all to see" is utterly ignorant.

It's just soulless to me is all.. it's not that i'm against long solos at all or not impressed by technical playing but when it lacks any kind of originality and emotion it just doesn't do it for me. Mars Volta (at least the early albums) are a good example. They were able to pull off the technical, sometimes over the top insane jamming into something interesting to me. To say jam bands are jerking off their instruments is my opinion on watching them play. I mean this quite literally.. that's the image that popped in my head. Sorry if this offends you, i'm not judging you for liking them or saying that was their motive!
For the record Phish are huge Ween fans and covered Roses Are Free but somehow managed to take a fun song climaxing with an amazingly effective guitar solo and rid it of all feeling.

Why is this thread called 2010 headliners? Last time I checked they didn't even book any headliners.

I would rather have 3 bands that i want to see, than have 3 "real" headliners that i don't( like last year).

Regardless the bands are worthy of putting on a fantastic show. Just give them a chance & try to get into them. If not pretty sure you can find something on any stage at any time... Pretty sure indeed
