The "music is subjective" defense? You can't call a band horrible when you went somewhere to see Coheed and Cambria. That's like going to see the Foo Fighters and bitching about Minus the Bear. (Not really, Minus the Bear is fucking great while Jaguar Love is... subpar.) Admittedly, I'm not nuts about Jaguar Love myself, but this couldn't be a better illustration of throwing stones in glass houses if you were literally doing just that.

Backpedal? Jesus dude, do you know how much of the stereotypical forum "bully" you try to come off as? I'm not even going to get into this with you, all you do is come off looking like a worthless fucking loser the way you try to pump yourself up here. I won't be acknowledging your posts anymore, you add nothing but garbage to the topics.

Pitchfork gave Mumford & Sons a 2.1 (you guys seem to like them) and seems to enjoy *, for the record. We can debate the Pitchfork's merits into the abyss, man. It's dangerous to bring them up in a place like this**.
*: Substitute this with a band you consider a hype band. Don't like: Noisy electro bullshit? Animal Collective. Noisy rock bullshit? Wavves. Boring rock bullshit? Grizzly Bear. Boring electro bullshit? jj (ps: jj sucks.) Joanna Newsom? Joanna Newsom. Are trends more hatable for you? No problem, there are plenty of pitchfork-hyped trends ready to mock! Like chillwave! Oh my god, chillwave.
**: The internet.
e: Oh, hey, I did not notice the page of posts before this one.

funny that you say fleet foxes, because local natives are a lot like them and pfork loooooooved their record but then shit on edward sharpe. they "loved" the new flaming lips record too which i feel is more similar to edward sharpe. not that it was better than the flips, but it deserved better than a 4.1. i can't wait for their ranting on the new gorillaz album. I gotta side with Pitchfork on this one. With all the good new psych bands around, why waste you're time with Edward Sharpe. For fans of good new and old psych, this is some very pukie shit. I mean, "40 day Dream", "Desert" and ughhh, the worst "look Ma I'm in a freak psych troupe band" name ever, "Janglin'". There is nothing that comes close to even attaining second rate here. I suppose if your just getting into psych (or don't care for it) this is pretty accessible stuff that makes ya feel like your listening to a "drug" band. I would suggest, for newer stuff, to check out Akron/Family, The Dodos, Iron and Wine, Besnard Lakes, Sparklehorse, The Pink Mountaintops among others. To see where "Edward Sharpe" is getting his shtick from check out "The Incredible String Band" and "Skip Spence". I will leave you with this, a video of the blissful commune livin' hippie guru himself before he changed his name to Edward Sharp Last word, go check out Portugal, The Man if you wanna see some truly amazing new psych stuff, they are fantastic!!!

I used to be in a death metal band and had hair down to the middle of my back. I had quite a few life changing experiences that led me to the person I am today. Now I have short hair and listen to a lot of different genres of music that I didn't used to enjoy. I'm not sure what the singer from Edward Sharpe's intentions were with the image change, but I give him a pass and benefit of the doubt.

I know people change, and I hope they do, but there is a huge difference from personal growth change to simply becoming what is in the now and cool (I know people do this all the time and that's fine and sometimes part of the process of finding your self, but let's just not throw record contracts at them). Nothing seems genuine in the Edward Sharpe thing and his band of "misfits". From the song content, costumes, and "gather with me people" thing it all rings as in your face and untrue IMO. I'm throwin' in with Portugal, The Man, great live psych stuff.

haha i get what you mean. i suppose i've looked at Edward Sharpe as a gimmick from the get-go, so it's always been enjoyable for the face value to me.

No way! I was literally on the Sasquatch site yesterday checking for his name because I thought he was already added. Weird.
