I'm making the trip from Edmonton. Which border crossing should I hit? I'm thinking of going through Cranbrook. Also, I'm thinking of leaving here at 12am Friday and driving through the night, showing up around 3-4pm, setting up, taking a nap and partying my face off. We took the Kingsgate crossing last year near Cranbrook (seems like everyone else did too), and waited a while. This year I think we're going to try to leave (Calgary) Thursday and drive a few hours, maybe even get over the border and then show up super early on Friday. I don't know what time the gates open, but I figure sometime around noon. Definitely think it's a plus to get there early on Friday. That way you will have sunlight to set up your tent, meet the neighbours, check out the area, and get the party started! By the way, although last year was my first year it seems like Friday night is the party night. The rest of the nights were pretty calm from what I remember (at least in comparison).

Definitely the reason I want to be there for Friday night. I always seem to find like-minded people on the night before the show starts, then party with them through the weekend.
I know I'll be too excited to get in any pre-roadtrip sleep, so I'll probably leave at like 8pm Thursday and just take my sweet time shopping for supplies along the way.

Last year I didn't see any actual bathrooms in premium, or if there were any they soon broke down. Lots of port a potties or "honey buckets" all over the place though. The shower situation (as mentioned previously) was horrendous last year. I left early Sunday night (during JA) to take a shower, but when I got back the showers were broken/something was wrong with the plumbling. I went back the next morning/afternoon to check them out, and they had just fixed the problem. So, I booked it back to my site to get my towel & shit and by the time I got back (2-3 minutes) there was a 5 person wait. Still, having a shower was nice but I'm preparing for no shower again this year. Do yourself a favour and don't expect to have one. There were actual washrooms available in Premier last year right beside the shower building, but they are always dirty as hell (using the honey buckets is more appealing IMO). Regarding the showers situation, it was horrendous last year. 2 showers, cold water, plus they broke down. The thing is (as i have mentioned before), people need to stop complaining on here and complain to the organizers, which is exactly what i did. I emailed them with the issues then talked to the camping organizer for 30 mins on the phone. Not only is it helpful for future festivals, but you can usually score some free camping tix or whatever (like i did). Cmon people....in this big online world....it only makes sense to go directly to where the problem is. Email them...ensure they know what the issues are and that it is unacceptable and get them to make the experience as good as how they describe it on the website. I am a firm believer that if you tell me that the experience is great (as it was in premier camping in 2008), then you better damn well make it that great or else you deserve what you get for feedback, or worse...get fired for it.

Regarding 5 people in one campsite....again....EMAIL THEM AND ASK. In '08 i emailed them, they gave me the details (the extra person had to pay like an extra $100 for the weekend) and thats the way it went down. Also, ensure to print off the email string for proof as the staff at the campsites do not communicate with the people organizing camping.

no one answered my question so I am going to ask again.
Can I pay for the camping when I get to the campgrounds or do I have to pay for it before hand? I just want the regular camping.
Thanks

Thanks I don't know but why not just buy in advance? They're available on Ticketmaster. Better to be safe than sorry.

Hey, does anyone know how many people you can have in premier? It doesn't say on the site and it sounds like more than 4 is ok. I think it be worth an extra 10 bucks per person if you split it 5 ways.

They replied today saying it is alright to have 5 people as long as you all come in one car.

There was a problem last year (I think it's been discussed already, but here is the question again) when camping sold out. People were able to pay on site, though, because room was made. Don't know if that's how it would run this year, but I wouldn't count in it. Buy camping in advance.

Hi - I have a premium camp site plus two 3-day passes purchased a couple of months ago and regrettably, am now unable to attend the festival. Selling everything at my cost, which is 170.00/US for the camp site and $170/US for each of the 3 day passes. Please let me know if you are interested. Thanks. I am interested in purchasing your premier camping! Please let me know if it is still available, we'd love to buy it from you. Thanks! Ellora

If camping runs out they have overflow space in the parking, I dont that you will ever be turned down to camp if you pay when you get there

I will relate my experience from last year...We left Vancouver Satuday morning and arrived at the Gorge around 1:30pm, only to be directed to what we thought was day parking, but actually ended up being overflow camping (south of the facility). We were pissed because we wanted to be near friends, but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
It was very spacious, and there were plenty Honey Buckets that did not overflow. It was closer to the entrance and much quieter than regular camping (we still partied back at the main camping, and suffered through the 4am walk back to overflow). The best part however, was that we had easy access out of the camping each morning. We were able to get out each morning for a quality breakfast, go swimming in the Columbia, and even played Pitch n putt in Crescent Bar Monday morning.
I highly recommend it if they allow it this year. I will definitely be making my way that again if I can.

Damn, that's awesome. How did you get to the river for swimming? I had a brutal conflict between King khan on the Wookie stage and Doves on the main stage, so I threw myself over the side of the Gorge. Fortunately, I landed in the Columbia River, so I was alive and refreshed. In all seriousness, the overflow area was so spacious that driving in and out caused no problems whatsoever. As long as you kept your camping ticket, once you left you could re-enter no problem. I may be mistaken, but I was under the impression that this liberty was not available to everybody in the main camping area.

Fuck, this is somewhat upsetting to someone who paid the extra $ for Premiere. I would love to be able to go out and be able to have breakfast somewhere, go for a soak and then head back for the show. I did see people doing it last year in Premiere, but we just didn't feel like risking it. What did the people working the gate or whatever say to you?

They say on the website you arent allowed access once you leave, but lots of people did. The people camping beside us went to town for breakfast every morning. Also, I wouldnt count on the same setup (meaning getting that overflow camping), it has changed every year I have been there.

Ya, I've been to the gorge many times and they haven't given me a problem leaving. Be prepared to hand them your camping pass so they can write your license plate number on it, and that's about all. After that you can drive down the road a bit to vantage to restock with supplies and maybe do some swimming/cliff jumping. It's a very refreshing change to a ridiculously hot and dirty camp ground.
