I've seen brand new a couple times live and I think they are defintiely getting weaker on every tour. The first time I saw them was right after Devil and God came out and they played a 2 hour set spanning their whole discography (including every song but one from deja entendu). That set was incredible. The second time I saw them they only played half as many songs and seemed really bored (but probably just really stoned) and it was pretty lame. I know they can put on a killer set at sasquatch I just don't know if they would..

can i get a hells yea for dr. dog? looks like their holding of on going to the northwest until around may... (cross your fingers) also built to spill is a possibility because of the new album... i've seen bts over 10 times now. doug martsch keeps getting older, fatter, and balder, but his voice is still invincible.

I'd also like to see Freelance Whales. They're a new Frenchkiss band that I've really been digging. They seem like they'd be fun to see live.

honestly i'd like to see a few don't look back type sets mostly from Slint, Sleep unrealistically: Agalloch Germs The Fall Wire Shellac Team Dresch Flipper Superchunk Swans Fear Death X (exene has ms who knew) ok basically any punk band thats has reunited recently or toying with the idea
still unrealistic but what i would like: The Feelies Jay Reatard someone from Wu Tang Clan, Raekwon or Ghostface Killah or both. edit: maybe not i never have enjoyed rap live. Fucked Up Mission of Burma Yo La Tengo Morrissey Polvo Trail of Dead Mike Watt again Faith No More Converge those are just bands i think/know are touring. faith no more would be an awesome opener for headliner or whatever. and mike pattons been there once? i only know of crudo which was awesome. idk this list is just a favorite bands who still perform. mostly would love to see gang of four and mission of burma those would be my ultimate. morrissey more so but i dont want to see him at a festival

I'd love most of your list, but that's also because I love punk. I saw X in Portland in 08, they put on a hell of a show. Germs would be cool if Shane West knocks off the acting, I hear he does a hell of a good job singing. Fucked Up would be a dream come true. I love that band, Chemisty of a Common Life is my favorite record from 08 and I've been hoping to see them for a long time.
I think Mike Watt is heading out with the Stooges, which would be amazing to see.
I'm hoping for Faith No More also, but from what I've heard they're aiming for a west coast tour in April, but who really knows. Mike Patton says it isn't happening. But he's a notorious liar because he likes to throw people off of his plans.

Ha, ha you are right Jacaran. And I was there too. Yikes! I missed both bands while checking out other stages. I really only got into both bands after hearing their latest albums (Merriweather Post Pavilion and Veckatimest) later in the summer. Saw Grizzly Bear a couple of months ago in Vancouver Canada and would love to see them again at Sasquatch.

It was just a very poor decision having Animal Collective play the main stage, especially right before a pop rock band like the Decemberists. Most Animal Collective fans would agree that their live shows are second to none, but watching them in the mid afternoon with a crowd of frat boys and Decemberists fans was less than ideal, especially when they played a 20 minute version of Fireworks, which Animal Collective fans appreciated, but was lost on 99% of the crowd.

^ agreed and I HATE the Decemberists. The best part of that set was the couple having sex on the ridge. Classic!!!

Yeah the Decemberists are pop rock. I hear they're touring with All Time Low next month.
/sarcasm
Animal Collective should've been in the dance tent or Wookie(? second stage just drew a blank). Most people at the main stage were there for Kings of Leon, not even the Decemberists. Do you know how many people complained about the Decemberists? Most of that crowd. Everyone wanted to hear their singles and they played, in my opinion, one of the best albums of last year. A LOT of people hate the Decemberists compared to the amount that like them.
But same goes for Animal Collective, when you pull a Mars Volta and do a 20 minute version of one song, not many people are going to be pleased. Also, here's the AMAZING thing about Animal Collective fans; they're the physical manifestation of Pitchfork and say no one "gets" it.
Maybe you don't "get" Hazards of Love since we're making assumptions. Maybe you don't "get" story telling in music. Just assuming since apparently people don't "get" Animal Collective.

Good post, Mawntana.
I consider myself a more-than-casual Decemberists fan, and I felt slightly disappointed by their set... on the one hand, it felt really neat at the time, getting to witness their new album live. To their credit, that seems like quite the feat to pull off, and they performed well.
On the other hand, I missed Colin's banter, and some of the silliness that comes with their sets.
And I suppose some of my bitterness has to do with seeing them do the same fucking set at San Francisco's Treasure Island back in October. Once I realized they were doing the album again, start to finish, without comment, I was more than a little annoyed.

To be fair, Decemeberists announced this before they went on tour that they would be doing that. I would've seen it again, I love albums played like that. I wanted to see the Springsteen show where he played the River from start to finish but I'm poor and live in fucking Montana. I love Colin's banter, it's great. But it was awesome to hear that whole album performed live and probably won't again unless it's for some one off.
I got to see Colin on 12/27 in a 250 person theater in Helena, MT. It made my month. Then I met him, amazingly nice too. I'd love Colin to comeback with his solo country stuff he's apparently producing.

I wish I had stuck around for the Decemberists show after Animal Collective. I didn't listen to Hazards of Love until after Sasquatch, and their set at ACL was one of my favorites. And I agree, that is one of the best albums of the year.
