At this rate I've accepted that I'll be Sasquatch-Theorizing up until my death bed.
Modest Mouse has no Seattle stop and a Thing shaped gap in August. Book 'em.

Elvis Costello and First Aid Kit are looking very thingable Elvis Costello could be possible. He has shows in Denver 8/23, Salt Lake City 8/25, and Thousand Oaks 8/28. If you're right about the dates, he could play Thing 8/26 or 8/27, but then he'd have back-to-back shows with significant travel between them. I don't think First Aid Kit's current tour dates suggest a Thing appearance (although they don't rule them out). Their tour currently ends in Maryland 8/21 with no shows west of Chicago. Both artists played Sasquatch, so they make sense. It's good to be back in speculation mode!!

Beach House is playing here in April, but they have a gap in their schedule and are playing a festival in California August 27-28. Not outside the realm of possibility and enough for me to hope.
New PNW supergroup Slang has members of Viva Voce, The Thermals, best drummer alive Janet Weiss, and a debut album coming out. A recipe for a THING appearance?

Where did you get this??

Yeah I'm skeptical about that. Doubling the price tag and going up to a 3-day festival in a small town during a pandemic would certainly be... a choice.

I have no doubts about its authenticity. Just hilarious he posted it here.

For real? Oof. Obviously it's lineup-dependent but my enthusiasm for this THING just took a dive.

More speculation:
Spoon's tour ends in Arizona in June, no PNW dates announced yet.
Soccer Mommy also has nothing booked past the end of June.
Japanese Breakfast plays Bonnaroo and then has nothing booked until August 28th in the UK, so unlikely but possible, as she's basically playing every festival on the planet at this point.
Portland-based artist MAITA dropped her new record today and is skipping Seattle on the current leg of her tour.

It's fucked dude. Northwest Terrorfest was the same price as the cancelled 2020 iteration! #notallfestivals But yeah, I dunno, Snacks. I want to go to THING but if you need me to drop half a grand on tickets + camping this lineup better fucking rule.

I like your ideas, rimjobflashmob! I saw Roseblood (who I think have morphed into Slang now with some lineup changes) a few years ago at Project Pabst, and they ruled. I'm having a hard time figuring out how big potential headliners will be. If we think Modest Mouse will be there, will they be the biggest name on the lineup? I think they would be billed above De La Soul or Violent Femmes on most festival lineups. Could St. Vincent play? I'm surprised she didn't play the PNW last year behind Daddy's Home, and she doesn't have any local dates announced yet. She's playing Japan 8/20 and Boston 9/10 (opening for Red Hot Chili Peppers?!) with nothing between. She played Sasquatch 4 times.

St. Vincent dolphinitely could play. I like to think that she has been holding out for THING. Give her a headlining set.
Modest Mouse St. Vincent Probably some raps

I'm also surprised Phoebe Bridgers hasn't played or announced shows in the PNW. She's toured Punisher pretty extensively, but not here. She's playing This Ain't No Picnic in Los Angeles 8/27-28, so she'll be active and on the west coast that weekend. Phoebe played the final Sasquatch.
Animal Collective also don't have west coast dates, and their summer is wide open. They only played Sasquatch as a band one time (and was one of the first Sasquatch sets I ever saw), but Panda Bear also played.
