Elvis Costello without a horde of people waiting for Mumford & Sons? Now that's my kind of THING.

I remember dropping corn chips all over my pants and then being on the ADA bus on my way to Sasquatch. Apparently there was a fire and all of a sudden I saw the hugest, scariest smoke clouds on the horizon coming our way. I was not prepared to miss out on seeing Leon Bridges, Houndmouth, Allen Stone, and the Shakes all because of some weak ass fire. Thank goodness we were still allowed in the festival grounds even with as windy as it was. My lips were C H A P P E D

Happy new year! Rampant 2021 speculation time... will THING 2021 happen?

I have it on good authority that THING won't return until 2022, unfortunately.

Unsurprising. It's for the best, as much as I hate to say it.

Bummer, but it makes sense. Guess I can cancel that camping reservation at Fort Worden.
I’m hoping live music returns in some form or fashion this year. I’m guessing a lot of those shows that were moved from 2020 to 2021 will be canceled versus moved again.... there’s a lot still on the books for spring and summer.

I have it on good authority that THING won't return until 2022, unfortunately. Unfortunate, but expected and probably for the best. I'm trying my best in general to not be a complete doomer about the future, but if live music does start to return this year it won't look like Coachella scale production events. Obligatory "not an event promoter or epidemiologist" but I imagine small scale low budget events based on vaccines proofs and general public health. Maybe 30 vacc'd people in a bar for an acoustic set? Time will tell. I'm also in a weird spot were I'm currently interning as a teacher through grad school, but am not yet putting "public school teacher" on my tax returns yet, yah know? Who knows what my timeline of inoculation and exposure to public events/classrooms will look like. Hoping for the best and looking forward to when we can drool and spill beer over each other again!

Also really, really not holding my breath for June Primavera. I should probably start bugging someone for a refund and praying Iggy Pop's lifeforce sustains itself for another couple years.
