Have you ever listened to Tame Impala and thought to yourself "Gee, I wish Kevin Parker would sing about nuclear apocalypse more instead of girls, take himself less seriously, and also make his instrumental breakdowns were twice as long"? I used to have that same thought every day until I discovered Pond.
Bio:
Pond is a psychedelic rock band from Perth, Western Australia, formed in 2008. Featuring a revolving line-up, the band currently consists of Nick Allbrook, Jay Watson, Joe Ryan and Jamie Terry.
Pond often shares its members with fellow Australian psychedelic rock band Tame Impala. Jay Watson is a full member of both acts, while Pond band leader Nick Allbrook contributed to both bands from 2009 until 2013. Current Tame Impala members Kevin Parker, Cam Avery and Julien Barbagallo are all former members of Pond, with Parker continuing to work with the band as its record producer.

Suggested Listening:
For the average listener, I would recommend their most recent two albums. In their more recent endeavors, the band manages to produce accessible records that don't sacrifice their carefree attitude or 4 minute instrumental breakdowns. Their older material is far more experimental and 'jammy' with the average song length on their second album approaching 7 minutes. If that tickles your pickle then you will have to journey outside of the spotif-sphere to find anything prior to Beard, Wives, Denim.
"Paint Me Silver" from The Weather
"The Weather" from The Weather
"Edge of the World Pt. 2" from The Weather (Great final buildup, ten points if you know the origin of the clip at the end)
"Zond" from Man It Feels Like Space Again
"Sitting Up On Our Crane" from Man It Feels Like Space Again (Instrumental throughout the second half of this track is euphoric)
"Outside Is The Right Side" from Man It Feels Like Space Again
"Giant Tortoise" from Hobo Rocket (ten points if this came up on your discover weekly)
"Xanman" from Hobo Rocket
What to Expect:
I've never seen them live but their set at Primavera 2017 looks sweet. Looking forward to loud guitars, great instrumentals, and facial expressions.
