So Tune-Yards just announced their releasing a new album and tour. They are scheduled to play in Seattle 2/26 at Showbox. Would this info make them less likely to play at Sasquatch? Can't remember what the radius/timeline rule of thumb was.
Saw them at Sasquatch a few years back and really enjoyed their show so was hoping they would be back this time around.

I would say that makes them fairly unlikely. There have been a couple acts over the years that played Seattle in February and came back for Sasquatch, but it is pretty rare. There is no distinct date for where the cutoff line is, but February is right in the neighborhood. Also, as I typed "distinct" my phone tried to auto correct to "district" which reminded me to speculate The Districts. They played a couple years ago and had a great time (the singer lost a contact in Fuzz's mosh pit). They have a new album out and I haven't seen any tour dates, but barring any evidence to the contrary, I would think there's a good chance of them coming back next year.

Thanks Professor. Hoping that they are a rare case that plays after performing in Feb. Their tour conveniently ends during March so they seem to have an open schedule for music festival season. Fingers crossed. I will have give The Districts a spin. Ended up listening, and becoming a fan to a lot of good artists through recommendations from the board discussions last year.

All Points East Festival in the UK is the same weekend as Sasquatch & also the weekend after (it's apparently a ten day fest?) full lineup yet to be released, but...
The XX, Popcaan, Lykke Li are playing the first weekend, so they are ruled out.
Weekend two has The National, The War On Drugs, Warpaint, Future Islands, and The Districts. Not necessarily ruled out depending on their surrounding tour dates.

I haven't listened to their new one as much, but A Flourish and A Spoil is top notch and was one of my favorite albums of that year. Also, their live sets are incredibly fun.

I'm still holding out hope for The War On Drugs because I only caught a little bit of their set last time, and they sounded fantastic. I love Future Islands, but I don't like how Sam Herring sings live. Glad the xx are out... I've never been able to get into them.

Same re: The XX, plus the fact that they would probably be booked as headliners at this point, which would be a complete waste of a headliner spot in my opinion.

Foo Fighters starting to look pretty likely. They just announced 2018 dates with huge gaps in May and June, and still no Seattle date. I was noticing that this morning too. Nothing really there that makes them more likely than they were before, but certainly nothing ruling them out at all. But the lack of a Seattle date is pretty glaring. I could be looking too much into it, but *if* they are playing a festival over memorial day weekend, Sasquatch is the only one that fits those tour dates. They almost definitely won't be playing at an electronic festival like Movement or Lightning in a Bottle... they have announced dates in Boston, Tulsa, and central Illinois (most likely rules out Boston Calling, Rocklahoma, and Summer Camp), and they played Bottlerock last year, so obviously won't be there again this year. All of that plus the lack of a Seattle date, the tour being hosted by Livenation, and them being a regional act all points towards them being at the gorge for memorial day IMO.

Honestly, given all that, I would be surprised if they aren't the first name on the poster next year. They would be a huge name for Sasquatch at this point. Weren't they announced early last time they played, similar to Frank Ocean last year? Maybe we'll get a confirmation next month when presale starts. It would make sense for Snacks & Co to announce a huge name early to try to drive presales. In related news: Presale should start in about a month!

Yeah, I think the early announcement of Frank last year was one of the smarter things they did as far as promotion goes, so I wouldn't be surprised if they do it again if they are sitting on a big name like Foo Fighters.

Exactly. I think they know that a lot of people (my self included) are hesitant about buying presale this year after the giant turd that was last year's lineup announcement. Announcing a huge name like that at presale would go a long way toward easing people's fears and encouraging people who otherwise would have waited to go ahead and buy presale. Considering that the Foos sold out the Gorge on their own not to long ago, I think they would be a perfect way to ensure a strong presale.

Foo Fighters / Lana Del Rey / ODESZA

Also, I know this kind of contradicts my point from a couple of weeks ago, but the Decemberists appear to have finished making a new record, and they've played behind every album except Castaways... and The Crane Wife, which came out a few months after their 2006 appearance.

not a massive foo fighter fan but wouldn't mind seeing them. wouldn't mind seeing Odezsa either. not as a headliner, but maybe closing out the second stage like Rufus / Kaytranada did top on my list would be Gorillaz - seen them a few weeks back in Seattle and holy shit. that was incredible. Vince Staples was a solid opener as well or Tame Impala (inb4 hate)
