I'll post some of my own thoughts later tonight, but I figured after such a pivotal year like this we should devote a thread to the positives, negatives, and general feedback toward 2017. I personally walked away feeling much more optimistic about the future of Sasquatch than I imagined I would, and even recaptured a damn good amount of that classic overwhelming joy that I remember from some of my favorite years. What did you guys think?

A couple things before I take a 12 hour post-squatch nap.
1. Can we all agree to never doubt the incredible Mr Snacks again? We all shit on this lineup so hard when it came out, but it turned out wonderful. The last minute additions of LCD and Mixalot really jumped it to another level though.
2. I think the day passes ended up saving the festival. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see them do it again next year if sales are slow to start.
3. I'm sure the whole "no overlapping sets" thing contributed to it, but the crowds felt bigger this year than last year. I was still able to get a good spot for every set I saw, but even the early sets felt relatively full compared to the ghost town they were last year.

Copy pasting what I wrote in the 400+ page thread:
# Good 1. LCD Soundsystem killed it. So so good (I was also in the second row). This show alone was enough to make the trip worth it. 2. I saw more beer options this year. 3. They added speaker towers on the hill by the Sasquatch stage and I thought the sound was better. 4. They added a projector behind the performer at Sasquatch which added some nice visuals to a bunch of the bands I saw. 5. Head and the Heart did a cover of Hunger Strike in honor of Chris Cornell which was really awesome.
# Bad 1. LCD Soundsystem finished 20 minutes early T_T (According to Al Doyle, sounded like they were more time-restricted thana the schedule led to believe) 2. The Live Nation people at the gate were *absolutely* clueless about how the single day passes worked. I was completely told misinformation left and right or straight up "I have no idea" which was not a good first impression. 2. I hated the "no overlap between Bigfoot and Sasquatch" thing since it made the lineup seem super sparse comparatively to previous years and hills were barren several times a day. 3. I guess there's a "Reserved Lawn" section now? 4. Because of the no overlap thing, there were obviously a lot of people that were in the crowd that were not particularly caring about the band and simply was just there to watch a band. I noticed that even during LCD, the crowd was pretty tame. 5. Because of the fewer bands playing, each band except the headliner had an hour long set. Which made bad sets seem extra long and a lot of times you didn't have the option of mozing to another stage (Except maybe the Yeti). 6. The Dance Tent being empty til around 5 was weird too.
Seems like I was in the minority in terms of people that didn't like the no-overlap shenanigan.

So Friday wildly exceeded my expectations, and I was pretty bummed that I wasn't staying all weekend. The 3 sets that I really wanted to see (LCD, Thee Oh Sees, Bonobo) were all bananas, and I was pleasantly surprised by most everything else I saw. The Head and the Heart are still garbage, and The Hotelier are really not my bag, but Los Colognes, Flint Eastwood, and Sleigh Bells were all great.
It seemed like there were more people than last year, but that could have been a function of having fewer acts performing at any given time. I never saw the Bigfoot looking as empty as it did during certain sets last year. Hopefully I'll be back for the full weekend next year.

Copy pasting what I wrote in the 400+ page thread: 4. They added a projector behind the performer at Sasquatch which added some nice visuals to a bunch of the bands I saw. That new LED screen was nice. It was really bright and colorful even in full daylight and it really enhanced some of the earlier shows. Phantogram especially used it well to pull off a really cool light show at 6:00 in the daylight.

Getting old and not being able to adjust the body clock from a 9 pm bed time sucks big giant apocalypse balls, and that alien orb in the sky sucked the energy direct from my frontal lobes. That being said, I had a blast. Sloucher had a bright idea for a backdrop as they had set up a live feed from a camera set up in front of their Seattle house, which was visited a least a couple of time by beer guzzling neighbors, and I like their music. Mondo Cozmo on the main stage was good. I kept moving from shade spot to shade spot, and watched Thee Oh Sees from under the crest of the hill, kinda far away. Wish I coulda joined the board gathering, but sunstroke was a distinct possibility so I played it safe. Didn't want to have to be resuscitated by a rainbow flag wearing bearded creature, of which I saw at least two.
Actually spent a full set in the sun for Sleigh Bells - 2nd favorite set of the day. When sundown finally came, I felt my body shift into falling asleep mode, which didn't mesh well with the feet dancing mode I was trying to maintain for LCD. Spent most of LCD prone on the hill, but the feets were bouncing tu and fro while I kept my eyelids propped open with beer tabs. I might have to make Sasquatch a fest visited after I can finally stay up late again. Or maybe they will start scheduling the headliners for 8 pm - I could do that fer sure. Anyways, hope they do it again next year.

What did you guys think? It brought me back to how fun the festival was for me my first year. I really enjoyed Saturday, not expecting to dig 21 pie holes but they really represented themselves well as a headliner. Though LCD was certainly the winner of the three nights, it was an absolute honor being able to catch them and their very unique vibe that can only be appreciated live. Favorite sets included Sam Lachow, The Management, and Big Gigantic shredding sax/drums/etc.

Alright, finally sitting down with the laptop for the first time since returning. It's been no secret that ever since the heartbreak of the fake lineup leak I've been pretty outspoken about my disapproval of Sasquatch 2017 and all of the events that followed the real lineup release. I hope I made every effort possible to make it clear that I believed the perceived "downfall" to be at the hands of Live Nation, and not Adam Zacks and the local team of organizers, but I know there were many times that I let my emotions get the best of me and I came off sounding like a total fucking asshole. I know I wasn't alone. Just about all of us were guilty of it at some point. I truly believed that the festival responsible for dramatically impacting and improving almost every aspect of my life since 2009 was dying, and dealing with something like that is no easy task. I figured I had experienced my final Sasquatch in 2016, and up until the addition of LCD in the lineup I thought the festival would quietly die after this year while leaving a permanent bad taste in my mouth. Within 5 minutes of their announcement, however, my mind was spinning with the realization that despite everything I absolutely could not miss an opportunity to catch one of my favorite bands of all time at the most beautiful venue I've ever visited. With little to no time to properly prepare, I (reluctantly) arranged to make it happen. My wife and I figured since we would be making the trek out anyway, we might as well stay for as long as possible, so we were able to stretch our time out to include Saturday as well.
*This is where I realized I was rambling too much and put the computer away for two days.*
I've had a few beers and I don't really feel like writing a novel anymore, but I had that previous text saved and figured I would offer up some sort of conclusion to it. The bottom line is that Sasquatch fucking did us right. Given all of the financial and attendance issues that they have been hit with the past two years, 2017 was a grand slam in my book. I walked away in 2016 feeling depressed and hopeless about the future of the festival, but everything about 2017 felt full of life and amazing energy all around. The production was absolutely stunning, the attendees were among the best I've ever encountered, and the overall atmosphere was pure joy all weekend. I'm not sure if it was the festival or me, but things felt monumentally different than what I expected, and I'm feeling extremely thankful that I had the opportunity to make it happen. I forgot how special Sasquatch was, and I hope I never take it for granted again as long as it exists.

Pea, for years i've been reading your sasquatch comments and appreciating your passion for this festival. This was my 9th Sasquatch, after three years off. Was there at the first one in 2002 when I didn't know shit about how to do music festivals. My friends drove us in 2006 and we listened to hail stones bounce off of Neko Case's microphone... those friends bitched out after the hailstorm passed, and then the Shins broke up. Left Kanye to see Joanna Newsom. Pulled a skull cap over my head for Bon Iver to stay warm.
What I'm saying here is, this festival is my first love, the one I hold the others up to--31 festivals later--and she's still here. I missed the last three years getting married, having a baby, being an old guy. But this year, this Sunday, was the single best day of a festival I've ever been to. It was epic. The weather, unbelievable. Fakear, Mount Kimbie, smooth and awesome. Jay Som, Moses Sumney, owned the Yeti. The Shins at Sunset...shit, i shed tears. Tears of relief, tears of thanks. And Chance was a real surprise. He killed it. Bob Moses (briefly) was as they ever are. And Rufus closed the night in a way that made me think, again, those guys should be headlining festivals.
You're the man. Just thought you should know that I am grateful to you for your posts, for your insights. If this is the last time this festival happens, that would be terrible, but at least you were willing to get out there and support it. You're the man. Hugs.

Hey man, thanks! Those are some really kind words. I'm so happy that so many people including myself were able to experience some classic Sasquatch magic this year. I think we all needed it more than ever
