Adding:
Ex Eye - Ex Eye
I've got my working list of top albums just about formed, but as other year end lists start rolling out I'm sure I'm going to discover some goods that otherwise weren't even on my radar. Ex Eye is a prime example. Never even heard of this project before, but it's already climbing pretty high after only 24 hours of hearing it. It's being promoted to fans of Lightning Bolt and Battles, but I'd have to say fans of Swans should dolphinately check it out too. Swirling apocalyptic instrumental rock with avant-garde jazz saxophone throughout. Just brilliant stuff. The main guy behind the project has collaborated with Tom Waits, Bon Iver, Arcade Fire, Animal Collective, TV on the Radio, BADBADNOTGOOD, Feist, and others. Hell of a resume.

Sold, and whoa you're way ahead of me. I usually don't iron this shit out until the weekend after Christmas. November has been especially insane in a year that has been relentlessly insane. Also please add: Zen Mother - I Was Made To Be Like Her

Isn't this Colin Stetson's metal project? So much of his stuff I listen to once or twice, really enjoy, then always forget about when I'm trying to think of what I want to listen to. His solo albums are great too. I also highly recommend John Zorn, if you like crazy avant garde saxophone, especially the albums he did with Mike Patton.

I know what you mean about really digging shit like this and then shelving it after a few listens. I actually went out and bought the vinyl for that very reason. Now I'll be reminded of it often instead of forgetting about it after the new year haha. I'll definitely look into John Zorn's stuff! Sounds like something I'd dig.

I basically just took my list from this page and cut it down to 50 and did a quick arrangement. It'll definitely get reworked a lot for the next few weeks!

Converge - The Dusk in Us This album is just so fucking good. I can't wait for their show with Sumac and Cult Leader in January. It'll be my first time seeing all three of them.

Sumac fucking kill live. I haven't seen Converge yet though. They played Sled Island this year, but funny enough (based on the ongoing topic), I skipped Converge to go see EX EYE.

I know this thread is dead and buried, but I would be remiss if I let 2017 go without mentioning
Francis and the Lights - Just for Us
I just discovered it last weekend and it is way too short, but just so beautiful.

Retroactively adding The War on Drugs' A Deeper Understanding. I was pretty turned off by this record throughout most of 2017 because of how much I thought it sounded like a cheap continuation of Lost in a Dream, but upon giving it some more attention as part of my Coachella research, I've fallen pretty hard for it. I maintain that it uses a few too many of the same sounds and ideas from LiaD, but hell, maybe that isn't a bad thing? These guys are putting out some truly beautiful music that nobody else is touching right now.

I envy Coachella goers this year for this specific reason. I've been lurking on this post for a while now and hot damn all of you have exquisite taste in music, ok carry on.
