Fuck it, let's do this. Please respect the sanctity of the rampant speculation and save the wishes for the wishlist thread. Post here acts that have a reasonable possibility of being booked for next year's festival.
A certain Internet publication that some people hate, but also happened to correctly break the info about LCD and GNR's reunions this year, is reporting that Smashing Pumpkins' classic lineup is reuniting for a tour and several festival gigs next year. We've speculated on them in the past but I've got a good feeling about them this year. I'm officially speculating Smashing Pumpkins to be the top name on next year's poster.
Another name I've had a strong feeling about seeing at the top of the poster is Beck. Recently put out a (really good) new single and should have a full album out by next year. He hasn't played Sasquatch in 5 years, so he's ripe for a triumphant return. Plus he's just the right size for a Sasquatch headliner: big enough to be a significant draw, but not Radiohead big (read: too expensive).
Also, Radiohead confirmed.

Robyn's been teasing new material and killed it a few years ago on the Bigfoot. She was also originally booked for the Julysquatch that never was, so if she does end up releasing some new stuff I'd say she's likely.

Thank you Professor Pancakes for starting this thread - I am ready to start speculating! Here are my current ideas, many of which are Sasquatch veterans: Broken Social Scene- According to a press release, they are working on a new album and are lightly touring this summer. If their new album comes out early next year, I expect them to tour heavily in 2017 and hit many festivals. I enjoyed their 2010 main stage set and hope to see them return 7 years later! Car Seat Headrest- As Professor Pancakes previously mentioned, their booking agent implied their inclusion on next year's lineup on the official Sasquatch podcast. Buzz around this band seems to be growing fairly quickly. They're touring the PNW this fall, and I expect them to play a late afternoon Bigfoot set next year. Chance the Rapper- A$AP Rocky played WaMu last November before subheadlining Sasquatch this spring. I expect Chance to do the same thing this year (although his WaMu show is in October). Fleet Foxes- Robin Pecknold has been slowly returning to music and getting the band back together. If it all comes together within the next few months, I expect Fleet Foxes to make their much-anticipated return around Sasquatch next May. Frank Ocean- JulySquatch casualty with constant new album buzz that might finally be coming this fall. I hope Sasquatch books him again and we get to see him this time! Gorillaz- This one seems the most unlikely of these artists, but I could see them headlining behind a new album. The Head and the Heart- I was naively in love with their debut album, and their breakthrough 2011 main stage set was very charming. I haven't enjoyed anything they've done with 2011, including their overly-indulgent 2012 Sasquatch set, but Sasquatch seems like a festival that could book them to sub-headline, depending on how well-received their new album is among Seattleites. Pixies- Pixies are a wishlist band for me that doesn't seem outside of the realm of possibility. I agree that Smashing Pumpkins could also be a possibility, but I don't think that both bands would play. One of those two bands would make a good alt-radio-friendly "legacy" headliner. The Shins- So the crowd can once again applaud as a hang glider soars behind the stage. Tegan and Sara- Pop crowd friendly option with indie roots and Sasquatch experience supporting a new album who usually puts on a fun show. Their booking feels safe and predictable. If Frightened Rabbit, Houndmouth, and Saint Motel are touring next spring, Sasquatch might re-book them to make up for their wind-related cancelled sets this year, but none of them feels particularly likely. We're only five months away from the lineup announcement. Yay!

What are the chances of getting some safe picks like Catfish and the Bottlemen, St. Lucia, Joey Bada$$, Mac Miller, etc.? I'm not saying they're ideal picks for this board per say, but they're guaranteed ticket sellers. Are we looking at a lot more artists such as that? Also if Chance returns that'll be an easy ticket seller, and finally I'm keeping my fingers heavily crossed on Car Seat Headrest.
Edit- saying these are 'safe bets' is obviously a subjective term. What I simply mean is having Major Lazer and Disclosure as headliners this year was kind of aiming for par so to speak. I'm curious if this is a trend that will only be amplified as they desperately need a good year of sales.

Green Day? Supposed to release a new album August 11. That would be most welcome, but I feel like they are a long shot. They might be too big at this point in their career. Then again, I did speculate Smashing Pumpkins and are about the same draw. We might get one or the other, but certainly not both. Fun fact: The first show I ever saw at the Gorge started with Green Day and ended with Smashing Pumpkins. One of the greatest days of my life, never to be repeated. I really like Chance the Rapper for a sub-headliner. His 2014 set was very well received and he had a blast doing it (Quote: "This is the funnest time I've ever had at a show."). I would consider him almost a sure thing, barring any evidence to the contrary.

I would say the chances of any of those would be pretty good, Mac Miller especially. I think he's long overdue. His tour has him in the west coast early November so it's possible he could be swinging back around then. A great addition would be Anderson .Paak as well, and given his popularity after Malibu I would put him as a reasonable afternoon Bigfoot set.

I had a dream last night that I was working at a restaurant and Killer Mike came in and ordered a pizza. I ended up getting distracted out back and going on so many adventures that I almost forgot he was there. Just after closing, I remembered and went back to check on him. He said everything was good, but I forgot to bring his beverages (he was super chill about it, though). Then El-P showed up and I was like "What's up, El?" and we slapped a secret handshake. Then I went to get us some beers, but my alarm went off before I could really talk to them.
TL;DR: Run the Jewels confirmed.
But seriously, RTJ3 should be out well before next year and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see them finally hit the main stage.

I would say the chances of any of those would be pretty good, Mac Miller especially. I think he's long overdue. I feel the opposite about Mac Miller. I'm not a fan of his music so I don't have a rooting interest in him being there, but I figured if he hasn't been at Sasquatch yet in the five years or however long he has been relevant, it's too late for him and he isn't a Sasquatch artist. (can you tell I'm desperate for Sasquatch discussion?) As for mid-tier mainstream-friendly artists, we get some every year: Børns this year, Glass Animals last year, and Kongos in 2014, just to name a few. So yeah, artists like Catfish and the Bottlemen (stupid band name) and St. Lucia will be there (or like Bear Hands, Robert DeLong, or whatever), but it's hard to speculate those so far in advance.

If they're still doing stuff together next year, Wolf Parade is another Sasquatch veteran I would expect to return.

As far as Seattle talent goes I could see Manatee Commune, Sango, Erik Blood, and/or NAVVI playing next year. Car Seat Headrest too hopefully as mentioned before.

Due to his recent improvement musically (one that I defend but acknowledge is entirely subjective) I stand by my earlier bid of Mac. I would also argue Vampire Weekend, Explosions in the sky, the last shadow puppets (mostly because of Alex Turner), and Edward Sharpe all have real potential of making returns in 2017 as Sasquatch vets.
Not sure if this is more a wish list bid or a speculatory remark, but Waxahatchee, Mitski, or Girlpool for a nice female fronted Bigfoot set would be plausible and would help further discussion since I don't feel as though I'm contributing many new names.

The Shins- So the crowd can once again applaud as a hang glider soars behind the stage. James Mercer is already talking about the Shins' upcoming appearance at Coachella. I expect they'll play at many, many festivals next year, and Sasquatch seems inevitable. In 2012, they subheadlined before Jack White. 5 years later, are the Shins Sasquatch headliners, or are they still subheadliners?

Glass Animals have a new album coming out and I expect them to be hitting the festival circuit hard next year. I'd say a Sasquatch appearance is a near certainty.
Repeat the previous paragraph, but substitute Danny Brown.
How do you guys rate the chances of Snacks booking SURVIVE (the guys that did the Stranger Things soundtrack)? I think they are a good possibility. The make the right of really good ambient synth music that would fit in well at Sasquatch and they are poised to blow up right now with the success of that soundtrack. Plus, they seem like the kind of topical Netflix-centric act that Snacks loves to book ( see Rodriguez and Death [Julysquatch #NeverForget] in 2014).
Side note: If you still haven't watched Stranger Things, you need to seriously reevaluate the decisions you have been making lately.

Glass Animals have a new album coming out and I expect them to be hitting the festival circuit hard next year. I'd say a Sasquatch appearance is a near certainty. I'm pretty sure more people were at their set in the dance tent last year than the Decemberists' overlapping set on the main stage. I don't know how their popularity is tracking, but if their new album produces a bigger hit than "Gooey," they could end up subheadlining the main stage like Foster the People in 2014. Although, they haven't yet sold out their October show at the Schnitz in Portland (capacity 2,776), so maybe they aren't overwhelming popular.
