I once found a Tucker Max book on the sidewalk in San Francisco. I didn't know who he was at the time, so I picked it up, read the first page, and threw it back on the sidewalk. Fuck that guy so much.

My brief love affair with Sasquatch appears now to have peaked when I was spinning around in a shockingly empty pit to "Just Like Heaven" by The Cure, which I think is an okay place to peak.

That was probably at the same exact moment that Phantogram threw a bat into the crowd, and kaboomed somebody's noggin.

I vaguely remember a Sasquatch parade through premier parking that got incredibly out of hand in 2013 (like to the point of almost removing people from the festival) and spending $20 on gummy worms at the frozen yogurt stall last year just to bring them to the merchandise vendors overlooking the Sasquatch stage. I was very drunk, and unfortunately I couldn't buy the gummy worms at a discounted price. The following day they all filled me in on my antics, and we had a good laugh. RIP to the original TMNT avatar touting genghisswan.

I was not a fan of Panda Bear before Sasquatch. I’m on the record as not being an Animal Collective fan either, which has caused some befuddlement among my circle of friends due to my love of experimental music. But I was jamming on Grim Reaper today and was thrown back into the experience of seeing Panda Bear live in (I think) 2014. And that set was fucking transcendent. Granted, it helped that I was in the middle of 20ish of my favorite people in the world, but that set connected with me on a spiritual level that I haven’t felt but for a handful of times. The energy of my dear friends and the beautiful, ebbing flow of the music coalesced into an experience I can only classify as religious. And I just want to thank you all for that, even if I still can’t get into AnCo - it was a pleasure and a privilege. I hope to repeat it soon.

Rereading that post makes me realize how impossible it is to put what that set to me into words. I cried three times, openly, in a festival setting. I burst out laughing out of sheer incomprehensible joy. I was thrust back into nostalgic, formative moments of my youth that were in turn beautiful, poetic, and deeply fucked up. I was brought to terms with decisions I had made years past and realized all of them had led me to this crystalline, irrefutable moment. And in those moments, I regretted none of them. I apologize for how poorly I can describe this feeling. Nothing I am writing can accurately portray this performance or the emotions it inspired in me. But it is one of a great many things that have kept me returning to this forum, and to all of you.

On if my favorite ongoing memories of Sasquatch is every year while making the drive you begin to see different vehicles packed to the brim with Diet Broweiser and cases of water. You see them and you just know, they’re making the pilgrimage.

I love when you get through the camping gates into the staging areas and you’re forced to wait around 30 minutes before navigating to a campsite. That is one of the best feelings ever, cracking open drinks and hanging/standing on top of the vehicles. Damn, I need to do Caesar’s this year!!!

You see them and you just know, they’re making the pilgrimage. My town has the first Walmart Canadians see after they cross the border from the Penticton/Kelowna area. So every year, in the days leading up to Sasquatch, I see groups of 20-something Canadians loading up on beer and camping food and it makes me happy. I even taught my daughter to correctly identity the Squatchers and we made a game of it.

It was kind of like the "Slug Bug" thing, but without hitting people. Just the first person to spot a group and say "Squatchers" gets a point. She got pretty good at it too. She's well on her way to becoming one herself.

Not sure where to post this, so here goes. We are downsizing; I have a 2014 Sasquatch poster that is in mint condition still rolled in the mailing tube. I would be willing to mail to someone for free. PM me if interested?

I was told recently that I started a train of people running to see Childbirth in 2016. Nobody besides me knew who Childbirth was. Apparently, I went hard for "I Only Fucked You As A Joke" and then dipped.
I have absolutely no memory of this.
Song for reference:
