But they did play some of the tracks from the new album at Sasquatch 2011 because it took them like 7 years to record that album.

I do not recall any new songs at the Sasquatch 2011 set but I'm pretty sure there were 3 new ones at Pemberton and they sounded good.

Still a good review almost three years later! Damn, most of the people who posted reviews in there have moved onto the great board in the sky. If any of you still lurk, come back!

I remember that from Coachella 2013 but I thought I knew them all at the 2011 show. Apparently I was wrong. Also that is awesome that they posted that entire set. I might just listen to it all right now...

Pretty much discussing Modest Mouse without both me and fig commenting should be illegal as the two of us are probably in the top 5000 of modest mouse fans.

Just listened to the new album. It's alright I guess. I think it's better than their last two but not by much. It's probably their strangest record to date, but a lot of the weirdness seemed way too forced. I could tell that they were trying to incorporate their older style into the album, which is cool. But they still have that same sound from Good News that I'm not a fan of so that brings it down a bit for me. Overall, I'd give it a 7/10. Still gonna be a fucking blast at Sasquatch.

Also Modest Mouse and plenty of other bands play songs years before they make albums. Modest Mouse routinely would book venues under an alias and test out new songs secret show style. They used to do it in Seattle and they still do it in Portland as far as I know whenever they're not touring.

Isaac Brock is one of the living embodiments of the principle of people getting angry at new things from an artist. No one can be expected to stay the same. Isaac Brock has changed significantly. Jeremiah Green wasn't even with the band for quite some time. That's what humans do they grow and change. As such modest mouse has changed. New mouse is just as good as old mouse it's just different. Modest Mouse's catalogs is the definition of someone maturing as they grow older. Isaac tackles different issues with his lyrics than what he did long ago.

I'm happy that Marr, as cool and incredible as he is, is no longer with the band. I am sad that Eric Judy is not though.

And considering the state of other bands that have been around as long as MM, I think they've been remarkably consistent. So, being in the top 5000 fans and all, does that mean you dropped the 500 bucks on the vintage poster pre-order package for the new record?

Wow, so I just read through that whole thread again, and boy does that bring back some memories. This place sure did introduce me to a bunch of great music that I used to spend hours and hours listening to.

Cause I was looking at some of the mocks from last year and they were pretty accurate Ya, last year had every act listed by day and stage with the initial announcement. I don't think they wanted to do that this year because Friday was so light when they announced. By my first estimation, there were only 3 or 4 main stage acts and only one in the tent that were initially announced for Friday.
