lol at the Pitchfork stage going till 5 in the morning Correction, last set STARTS at 5 in the morning. I assume the Pitchfork Stage is what the ATP stage was when I went. That's a solid schedule though. RTJ -> Flylo -> Justice Thursday looks awesome. Friday is all around great with a couple painful overlaps on the NOS and Placo stages. Aphex closing the main seems about perfect as well.

Oh my god the goddamn conflicts are going to give me whiplash The King Gizzard vs. Nicolas Jaar total overlap is going to be tough. It looks like I'll be doing a healthy amount of running between the 4 stages and catching a good amount of half-sets.

That one is definitely the toughest but I've seen King Gizz twice and I've never seen Jaar so I'll stick it out for his full set. Also we gotta make sure to get a beer together sometime during the festival and catch a set. This is gonna be so fuuuuuuuuun

The Sasquatch hangover was roughly 1,000x better knowing that I'll get to check out a new festival in a new country in 2 weeks.

Banana I really meant to hit you up but got very caught up with how amazing the festival and city were. What a time. 100% of the people were there for the music and 100% of the artists were beyond stoked to be playing the festival. Didn't see a single bad set or meet a bad person. Thank you Davers for the recommendation!

Thank you Davers for the recommendation! No worries, we were very much caught up in the experience ourselves. Agreed on pretty much everything, the festival and the city of Porto were both fantastic. Did you make it to any of the warm-up shows on Wednesday night? They ended up being a really nice surprise/bonus/appetizer. Top sets for me were a tie between Aphex Twin/Bon Iver/Run the Jewels/Death Grips. The only negative was getting stuck in a complete Bus-terfuck on Friday and missing all of Pond's set, but I don't think it could have topped their show at Neumos.

I was semi worried that people I never met flew to Europe on my recommendation and would end up having a bad time. Now I need to hype my favourites from last year. Tall Tree is in a 9 days. Everyone drop everything and go Vancouver Island. No cell service! Amazing views! Fantasticly weird humans! Or if that's too short of notice come to Ponderosa in August. Rivers floating! Yoga! Super nice people! Really laid back!

The Black Madonna absolutely killed it on Wednesday night but I wish the crowd was more Berliny for that and less festivaly. Girth Drips mosh pit was the best of my life, Nicolas Jaar blew me away, and everyone else you mentioned also killed it. I also missed Pond and I was very bummed about that. I don't think I'll ever be able to drink Super Bock again after that weekend, though...

I need the deets on that AFX Porto set. What I've pieces together so far has been pretty killer. Music was wild and ranged from unintelligible sounds to 145+ bpm bangers. Crazy laser show and all the visuals were distorted live videos of the crowd. He used face recognition to put his face on crowd members while it got more and more freaky. I enjoyed it a lot.

Did you recognize any of the trax? He did the crowd visuals thing for a bit at DFN, it was nifty. Glad you enjoyed it! Trying not to get too bummed out that it wasn't streamed like Field Day. No exclusive record sighting I assume?

I couldn't pick out any of the individual tracks. The whole show was a continuous audiovisual assault on the senses-- musically all over the place but still while feeling cohesive. It was funny seeing people realize they were on the visualizer just before their face exploded into fractals or a warped version of RDJ and the lasers were the most powerful I've seen at a festival. Here are the only quick vids that I recorded: EDIT: Can't figure out how to embed vidme so here are the links: vid.me/Jf4Lvid.me/edqpvid.me/edqp

Those videos sound dope as fuck. I wish I could have got a longer one, but my storage was full and I had to start deleting stuff just to take pictures. Still need to do something about that...
