Hidden gem: the "cell phone charging stations" that came with the lockers. I only actually plugged my phone in there once all weekend, but those couches were heaven. It was so nice to be able to go grab some food from the locker and relax on an actual chair or couch to eat and recharge for a couple minutes. Even if I hadn't brought a bag in, the use of the couches alone would have been worth the cost of the locker. You had to have a locker to go there? I kept meaning to go there but never got around to it. I always assumed it was just for anyone, you just had to walk through the lockers to get there. I think it was technically just for people who rented lockers, but I didn't really see any enforcement. There were plenty of people in there without the locker wristbands, but it was never crowded and there were always open seats every time I went in.

Did Liars cancel or get skipped? My thought was that they got skipped b/c the festival and/or Phantogram didnt want to push back their hyped (and godawful) evening set. regardless, it was a huge disappointment and a terrible way to start the weekend. Cancelled. The schedule on the mobile app said it, but I didn't see or here it announced anywhere else. Edit: also what Davers said.

Liars cancelled because an airline lost essential instruments:

What do you mean 'get skipped'? They were on the schedule and as far as I know there was nothing on stage during that time. If they were going to 'skip' them they would have had to push all the sets and seriously fuck up the schedule. Phantogram was still late regardless. I have never heard of a band being skipped at a music festival before, I don't know where you got that idea from. i've definitely seen bands get b-u-m-p-e-d before. But I stand corrected, just did some research and travel issues were apparently the culprit, and the festival did notify us via the app (altho a human voice over the PA would have been nicer) slog.thestranger.com/slog/archives/2014/05/25/liars-cancelled-die-antwoord-ruledI had a religious experience at Mogwai, easily one of the most memorable music experiences of my life. Am 35 and been seeing lots of live music for the past 20 years, and it's been many many years since any band hit me as deeply (and loudly) as they did. QOTSA had the best headlining performance, Foals absolutely ripped the main stage apart, lots of great music all weekend long, really love the Gorge and this festival.

Best idea ever: GIANT FRIEND CAMP
Worst execution ever: DRIVING TO GIANT FRIEND CAMP
All of the feels: Mogwai, The National
Best way to kick off the fest: Awesome dance party to White Sea
Best resolution of Haim/Banks conflict: Being entirely too haggard to stay for more than one song of either and passing the fuck out to Waxahatchee instead. Wait, I think I meant worst resolution.
Happiest André 3000: Ours!!
Best caeser ingredient: Great Value brand Clam Drink
Classic weeniest: Meeting Demetri Martin and awkwarding so hard.
Probably the most annoying crowd: Us at Violent Femmes just having the time of our goddamn lives.
Funniest: MY JOKES
Actual funniest: Hannibal Buress
Best moment of feeling old as fuck but not caring because of AWESOME: Dancing in the sea of 14 year olds at Chance.
Best cuddle puddle moment (and this was tough because I’m pretty sure this is all I did all weekend): Pea feeding us all the best ice cream ever in between Rodriguez and P.The M.
What the fuck-yes-iest: “Dayman” at Portugal. The Man.
Best folkin’ awesome sing-along: “Emmylou” at First Aid Kit.
Worst Fig Voice: Surprisingly not Fig!
Biggest probably-knew-I-was-gonna-fail-but-kept-pretending-I-wasn’t: Trying to make it in before 3 every single day. Bummed I missed Bright Light Social Hour for sure.
Worst/Best Drink: Emergen-C & Vodka.
Favourite sets: Mogwai, The National, QOTSA, chune-Yards, Neko, First Aid Kit, Phantogram, Chance, Outkast.

Worst/Best Drink: Emergen-C & Vodka. You forgot the splash of warm water that really brought the whole ensemble together.

No cuddle puddle was better than the one that involved 3 beautiful Canadians and one Fig jamdicked into a 2 person tent.

Entirely possible that the real Amy was also there, but here is possibly the worst photo ever taken of me plus fake Amy. She was actually more convincing with sunglasses on.

Favorite sets: 1. Classixx 2. HAIM 3. Boys Noize 4. Cold War Kids/Gesaffelstein 5. City and Colour 6. Shakey Graves 7. Tycho 8. Chance 9. Princess 10. Cage the Elephant
Best hip hop performance by any artist including Outkast: Chance the Rapper
Best late night party that I didn't go to and kinda wished I had: Major Lazer
Biggest disappointment: friend having a complete mental breakdown and ruining Gesaffelstein for our group
Biggest clusterfuck: Tyler the Creator crowd, pretty sad we had such a shitty spot and ended up leaving..
Most surprising set: Yelle. Caught the first few songs of theirs and was really pleasantly impressed.
Least likely to happen, but it did: Successfully sneaking in a full fifth of vodka and a 5 liter bag of chardonnay for Boys Noize (thank god for the lockers this year).
Biggest honor to see: City and Colour, always connected with his music on some serious emotional levels.
Best electronic set: Classixx
Best sunset chorus line dance party on the floor: cute girl leading my friends and I in a tech-house dance party during Gesaffelstein
Winner of the Sandrider / MIA conflict: Austra
Best performance by an artist who's album(s) I didn't really like: Tokimonsta
Best band to sit in the grass and smoke a joint with: De La Soul
"Funnest time Chance the Rapper has ever had at a concert": Sasquatch 2014
Easiest boarder for me to recognize IRL: Fig with his drangus fat head of Dr. Steve Brule. (Even though I didn't notice it was him at the time).
Best vocalist: Dallas Green of City and Colour
Best drummer(s): Yelle's drummers. Not necessarily the most technically skilled, but their entrance and the intensity at which the played with was incredible. honorable mention: Haim's drum solos at the end of their set were pretty awesome.

After two days of recovery, I'm still a little drained of energy after the weekend plus. I enjoyed meeting all of you at Violent Femmes and getting to be part of the group photo, but I feel like I owe weenie an apology. I tried to make a joke of my advanced age compared to the rest of you, and instead I think I insulted weenie by accident. So anyway, weenie, I'm sorry.
On to the awards. Since my body clock failed to adjust, I was able to be there at the opening each day, but by 10 or 10:30, wasn't able to have quite the fun I did earlier in the day, so some of my choices might be a little skewed.
Favorite performances: Tuneyards and Elbow (was in the pit very close for both, and the interaction of the band members and with the crowd was great to see up close)
Best start to the day: Bright Light Social Hour. Got to see these guys at ACL last year, and they brought it again. Fun in the sun for sure!
Favorite new bands: Little Green Cars and Cloud Control. Both of these groups had great vocals, lots of harmonizing with all of the band members. Some really great songs as well. I would go see both of these bands again and again.
Most amazing moment: I have to agree on the Mogwai ending. I missed the first part of their set, but caught the last 20 minutes or so, and was absolutely mesmerized by the wall of sound at the end.
Favorite sunset: I was in the pit for Haim, and happened to glance up at the hill just as the sun came out before sunset and lit up everyone on the grass in a golden light. Perfect!
Laughable moments: I didn't do any comedy, but once I spotted Fig with his giant dingus face, I laughed every time I saw it bobbing up and down in the tent or up close to one of the stages. I don't think I ever saw it standing still.
Finally, a big shout out to HG and Stormy. She spotted me wandering around a little lost at Violent Femmes and jumped on my neck in welcome, and HG wasn't far behind. I don't know that I would have found any board people without their help, except maybe for Fig - he was hard to miss. Anyway, thanks for the great welcome and introductions - made my day. I just wish I could have joined you guys in the after party one night, but alas, was unable to summon the stamina to do more than walk back to my camp and collapse into sleep. Maybe next year everyone gets up at 8 am to party - then I'm all in!

Mutt you're a hell of a guy, it was great to finally meet you! I was afraid that the level of ridiculousness that the Femmes had launched me toward was a bit off-putting when we met so I am happy to hear that I wasn't too much to handle haha.

A) I don't have any idea what you're talking about and B) I'm pretty damn hard to offend. Just don't talk shit about the TV show Fringe and we'll be fine. It was great to meet you! Maybe next year everyone gets up at 8 am to party - then I'm all in! I'm fairly certain if you ever want to party at 8am you would find some people still going at it at our camp. Whether you want to deal with that level of shit-showiness however...

Weenie, were you on the group after Eric Andre when I met Goldbeard, HG, and Stormy? I feel like there were more boarders there, but it was such chaos and the group dispersed before proper introductions could be made.

I also snuck* a 5 liter bag of wine Sunday. It was remarkably easy, but damn heavy. *Google says this isn't a word, but sneaked does not sound right.

I am so happy that you had us all sign that empty wine bag. I just am imaging a disgusting, moldy bag framed on your wall.
And that guy Alex(?) throwing the popcorn during the HAIM shitshow was pretty amazing.
