Hey guys. Totally new to the sasquatch experience. I am planning a road trip from mid April to late May from LA to seattle and thought it wouldn't be a bad idea to end it with sasquatch before heading back. Last year I went to coachella both weekends (had an extra pass for weekend 2 so I was like ok, why not?). I think Im relatively satisfied with the May lineup with its nice dose of hip hop but wish acts like Bonobo, Beck, and Arcade Fire were playing on Sasquatch...which leads to my question. How exactly is Sasquatch different than other festivals (besides the obvious differences in lineups). That being said I still haven't bought tickets yet.

The most obvious difference.

The venue is hands down, unequivocally one of the best outdoor venues in the world. The crowd also has a vibe unlike many other festivals which I chalk up to the fact that its half Canadians and then PNW Americans.
Sasquatch is a sight to behold and while I am by all definitions a music fan, the music at sasquatch is only half of what makes it great for me.
But thats just like, my opinion man.

There is only one Festival that I like as much as Sasquatch and that is Bonnaroo. I don't buy into the Coachella hype, no offense friends. The best people I know go to Sasquatch. It is a magical and beautiful place, it won't get as weird as Bonnaroo, but the beauty of the venue and the atmosphere of the campground is very nice, some people can be belligerent, but unlike Bonnaroo you're unlikely to have roving cops traipse through your shit, which can happen at Bonnaroo if you're unlucky.

I've never been to Coachella, but from every story I hear, I would need to be drunk out of my mind to deal with the people and the heat... then I would pass out from dehydration. Being able to set up a blanket at the main stage and just relax is one the best perks of any festival, and none have it better then Sasquatch. Out of all the other festivals I've gone to, the only thing missing from Sasquatch to take it to the next level is a better food/beverage selection like Outside Lands.

Sasquatch is also always a shitshow as far as organization goes. It can be frustrating as hell but I just expect it now and plan accordingly.

Sasquatch is also always a shitshow as far as organization goes. It can be frustrating as hell but I just expect it now and plan accordingly. So what does your plan include to help mitigate the crappy organization? Are there some specific things to avoid? Do you have to line up in a certain spot at a certain time for something that makes it all better? Are corn chips involved?

Step one: not give a shit about lack of organization at the fest.
Step two: have fun

The most obvious difference. Why are two people chopped in half in that photo?

Yes. Sasquatch is magic. The venue is a religious experience. When you walk to the top of the hill for the first time and look out onto the gorge, you will cry. Everyone at Sasquatch is your best friend. The weather is amazing. It is the happiest place on Earth. Make the right choice!

I love other festivals but quite literally Sasquatch at the Gorge is my favourite place/time congruence in the world. There's a moment every year where I just am standing on the floor, feeling the music run up through my toes, looking at that amazing view, surrounded in people who are all feeling the same way and I just feel like I'm home and it is the best fucking feeling in the world.
Just try it once, it's totally worth it.
Ps: just try it once is silly and haha you'll totally be back.

I love those moments at Sasquatch where I just take a minute to say to myself, shit yeah it is Sasquatch right now.

Like everybody else has mentioned, the Gorge is heaven on earth. According to many, including world class musicians, it is the greatest venue in the world. One great thing about the Gorge is that with the limited capacity even at sold out shows it never really feels uncomfortably overcrowded.

Hey I'm getting ready to evolve (or mutate, or metamorphorize?) into a Yapping Skunk Ape, so I thought this would be a good spot for my last post as a human. I also am totally new to Sasquatch, so am really looking forward to the full sensory experience. I recall a warm desert night at the polo fields for Coachella with the full moon rising and thinking kind of the same thing about how I was glad to be there at that moment and no where else. Expect the same and more in 69 days!

Everything is heightened at Sasquatch. I think the bands feel it too. I'm not making a drug reference. But the sky, the space, everything is big, and open, and we're all free. The positive vibes have no glass ceiling to break, because we're listening to fucking music with the rest of the universe watching too. But they don't know they're watching. Kind of like Being John Malkovich. It's a transcending spiritual awakening that you're fucking alive, and you're in this moment, and for all the shit outside of Sasquatch, it doesn't matter. Because in this moment, god dammit, I swear it. We are infinite. (ps at Sasquatch anyways)
p.s.s. I'm trying to keep up with Mutt's confusing posts. When the irons hot...
