Holy fucking shit, Beck did 'Debra'!? And it was glorious. When he said, "I want to tell you about a girl," I said out loud, "it better be Debra." I was up really close, and it was painfully obvious the crowd around me was filing in for the headliner, so no one near me shared my excitement when that first note hit. He still had the L.A. crowd cracking up about all the places he was going to take his date in his Hyundai. I sang along with myself. Music bucket list highlight. He teased that shit at Sasquatch 2006, and I left pissed off that he didn't play it. I didn't do the internet research to figure out how often he plays it, I just assumed I was watching something he hasn't done in ten years, and it suited me fine.

I cried when he played that shit....Davers had already told me so I knew it was coming, but some how I forgot.
Set list was great, he seemed really into it. Lot of energy, lots of cool stories. BEST.
Beck with Arcade Fire for the Prince cover was great as well. Can't remember much else, still processing after my straight drive home. Good times.

Rusty dude, 'twas so good to meet you! Sorry we were full-on camping drunk by that point. How was the rest of your 'chella? PS: Look what Drew literally just sent me. What a bunch of nerds.

Hahah, you guys were the best. I came back to your camp every day at some point, always empty. My phone died permanently right around queens of the stoneage. I'd love to see ya'll again.
I had a blast. Didn't see as many bands as I'd like to secondary to : the heat, the rash I had from the allergic reaction to sunscreen, being tired from disneyland the days prior, being a lazy motherfucker, enjoying all the food ( i gained 7.5 pounds haha) , enjoying all the art( i took 23 pictures of the space man in different positions) etc.
I'd go again for sure. If I did the same trip, I would do coachella first, and take my time back, biggest mistake was doing so much in the two weeks before. I just felt kind of out of it all weekend.
We stayed at a friends in palm desert on sunday night...Sunday of the festival was the first day of any festival that I have gone to not under the influence of any drug, it was surprisingly awesome.
overall had a blast, sad that my vacation is over.
Great picture btw.

I recorded and watched several hours of the Coachella feed on AXS, and the Beck Debra was so much better weekend one. One of the trips he wanted to take her on was to Rancho Cucamonga, which holds a special place in my heart, but is douchey for even the L.A. crowd. They all booed when he mentioned it, which was hilarious. I feel like the weekend one Debra was at least three minutes longer than the weekend two song I watched on AXS. Agreed, the setlist was great, and his energy was off the charts. It was like a 22 year old Beck dancing around causing a ruckus. Much different than long haired stoned Beck at Sasquatch 2012.

I was pretty close, but not as close as I normally would have. Because I did not look at the set list from the prior weekend, I just assumed it would be all acoustic Sea Change and shit from his new Sea Change-esque album. I would have loved to be front row belting out Debra--oh well shit was great .

Rusty! Meeting you and your girlfriend was definitely a highlight of my weekend (even if I did get my Thursday white girl wasted blackout in the middle of talking to her). So sorry I didn't come by your camp, but I did see the Rusty flag your neighbours had and started every morning by saying we should go visit.
Such a fantastic fucking weekend - best Coachella so far, that's for sure. Beck's set was a highlight, best I've seen of him - cried my eyes out at parts and danced like a manic at others. Top three sets were Pet Shop Boys (was worried I hyped them for myself but they surpassed my expectations), Arcade Fire (after waiting this long to finally see them, they fully delivered) and Caravan Palace (no idea who they were and so so happy other Megan suggested seeing them, great dance party). Still haven't fully decompressed from the weekend but already know I can't wait to do it again with you all next year. And we still have the rest of festival season to go for this year!

I didn't do any internet research either, I've just seen Beck on every tour since Odelay and Drew posted the Coachella setlist on Facebook.

Other highlights: mountains of bacon, everyone helping me be less homeless, sexy DARKSIDE dance party, drew geeking the fuck out to the replacements, drew geeking the fuck out to future islands, beck!, the pope, adam being convinced that it was daft punk, potentially seeing some bands at some point, getting stuck in the sea of bros, the naked and famous, and other megan crying at the naked and famous, and new awesome additions to the festival family.
Disappointments: muse, not getting my luggage, apparently being an adult, being completely unable to handle the heat and missing a ton of bands because of it.
All in all, definitely one of my favourite festival experiences so far, and thats mostly because of all of you beautiful people that I got to share it with <3 PEM.BER.TON.

My post had zero to do with how you found out Beck played Debra. Get over yourself.

I wasn't being defensive. My post had everything to do with my compulsion to point out how many times I've seen Beck, and the fact that I saw him on the Odelay and Midnite Vultures tours. Get over your own self.

I wish I saw Beck on Midnight Vultures tour, that is a consistent go to for me on youtube.
It was pretty notable at Coachella how he can not maintain that high note like he did back then.
Other news, I've been in the market for a car for some time....I'm pretty sure I will be getting a Hyundai just so every day when my girlfriend and I go somewhere I can say: Lady, step inside my Hyundai!

Rusty it was awesome meeting you! I was scared we overwhelmed you with our weirdness Thursday. It's too bad we were always gone when you came by later in the weekend, would have loved to see you again. I stumbled by your site a few times as well but I never caught you.
I have a shitty cellphone picture of you and Ms. Rusty on the bird swing (after I hit the asian girl in the face with a snowball) which I'll try and get to you once I get home tomorrow. It's one of the 12 pictures I took in the entirety of both weekends, so treasure it dammit!

Damn, did you people seriously meet Rusty? ...was he a chupacabra? Hahaha, I am the chupacabra. There was a picture of me a page back with some boarders at coachella incase you didn't see it. Davers, KY, Weenie, Sara, Shax, Drew: It was a pleasure meeting all of ya'll. Will do again some time.

I wasn't being defensive. Responding to, "I didn't do any internet research," with "I didn't do any internet research either," isn't being defensive. Got it. In what dream universe would this actually happen?
