Ethics aside. Would you rather pay $500 for a ticket or not go? Again ethics and moral stuff aside. I know no one is allowed to charge more than face but hypothetically it would be nice to hear peoples input

If I did not have a ticket by now and had 500 dollars to spend I would probably just get CHBP and poopershoot tickets and be bummed for 5 minutes that I missed Sasquatch...

Just pretend Sasquatch themselves jacked the price to $500, would you still go? Knowing most other people paid less than $500 is a piss off, but you have to decide if it is worth it for you.

Personally, I wouldn't pay it. I'd hold out, even until Thursday or Friday, and try to get a ticket at face (or lower).
It might be hard to wait 'cause you really want to have it locked down, but if your schedule is flexible and you're not already 100% committed then that's what I'd do. You might end up disappointed but I just couldn't stomach knowing how much over I'd paid. By Thurs/Fri I would expect people to be a little more desperate to get rid of what they have left and prices to be much better -- you'd just have to ensure you're beating out any other people trying to get last minute tickets too.

That's the problem this year. Supply does not outweigh demand, and it doesn't appear that that is going to happen. Will there be some face value tickets come Thursday and Friday? You bet. Wil there still be a shitload of people looking at that point? Probably.
With all that said, I would never pay $150 + over face value.

I have literally been emailing people the minute their ad is posted just to have them say they already sold it or they have so many people flooding them they want $550 now seeing them go for $700+ on ebay. I agree the markup is ridiculous but the fact that a music festival cost $300+ is a bit ridiculous too.

If you're remotely close, the price will still probably go way down on Friday. Since it's a weekend long event in the middle of nowhere, people stop looking for tickets when it gets to close for them to get all the stuff together they'd need. It's not ideal but I'd just keep at it.

Ethics aside. Would you rather pay $500 for a ticket or not go? Again ethics and moral stuff aside. I know no one is allowed to charge more than face but hypothetically it would be nice to hear peoples input A lot of us have been forced to pay over face to attend events we can't miss. Our recent binge on the discussion (which I'm sure you read) wasn't about what is acceptable on Craigslist. It's about what is acceptable on the Sasquatch Message Board. This isn't a ticket selling site. Most of us are friends, family even. When we have an extra ticket, we hook each other up, knowing they might hook us up in the future. If someone hooks you up with a sold-out ticket for face, you don't turn around an screw them out of $30. I wouldn't charge my mother even $7.50 over face, nor would I charge anyone here $7.50 over face. There are plenty of websites catering to markups, and this isn't one of them. Many of us believe selling tickets for face is the right thing to do. It's impossible to prevent scalping, but the more people who jump on our side, the less tweeners there will be who try to make a buck just because everyone else is doing it. That leads to more face value tickets for those who need them, even if only a few. Long story short, I wouldn't pay $500. If you are willing to pay over, don't promote it here. If you want to join our side, you wouldn't be in the situation of considering $500 to begin with. I wasn't going to let anyone who hooked me up strike out, and every regular here ended up eventually getting a ticket.

Pretty incredible, really. There were a LOT of us this year, and for a while it kinda looked like we might be short a Fig or a Lahey. The system is broken and I doubt it'll ever be fixed, but having a fairly large contingent of folks who are willing to get your back sure helps.

We owe a lot to burgertime for hooking us up this year. If it weren't for the shear number of tickets won by boarders through that and other contests, we would still be actively searching for tickets for one or two of the regulars.

That's not true actually. It's awesome Burgertime chose to hook up the board, regardless of if those passes were given to him to promote his brand. I turned down several face value offers (one even from a banished boarder) before the e cigarette contest started, because every boarder who deserved a face value ticket already had one.

(one even from a banished boarder) Please tell me it was mykee. I'd be so fucking happy to know that dude is scrambling to unload his ill-gotten wristbands.

"No longer welcome," if you will. Besides, I can start a thread about your lack of memory, because I told you who it was less than a week ago, and you giggled.

Most concerts I skip if theres a lot of scalping and I cant get a decent priced ticket.
If I had the cash, I'd pay what I need to pay to come to sasq. its my happy place.
Am I allowed to say that or is it a bannable offense?

I spend more than the value of my ticket on gas to get there and back each year. I think it's worth the extra if you have no choice, but hold out little longer. You'll have to be diligent though.
