Stupid question probably, but I'm desperate. I'm going to miss some of the NHL playoffs. I'm a Canadian male so.. this is basically the most important time of the year to me. I'm wondering if there is any way to watch television or connect to the internet while at Sasquatch so I can watch the games. Possible to leave and go to a near by town or something? I'm open to extreme suggestions.
You will be lucky to even get cell service most of the time, let alone 3 or 4G. I'm not aware of any wifi anywhere on festival grounds. Your best bet is to find a way to get to Quincy or George (maybe 10 miles or so) and find a sports bar (but I bet most of the locals won't be really into NHL..... I could be wrong)
The way I see it, you have two options: 1) Realize you're at one of the best music festivals around for the next five days, give in to the party and music surrounding you and have one of the best weekends of your life, or 2) Realize your life is run by a sports game that won't let you go on vacation anywhere without access to TV or the Internet for five days, give in to this pathetic state your life has become and sell your pass for face value to one of the boarders here.
Besides you'll be far from the only Canadian male attendee with an interest in hockey that is missing his oh so precious play offs. Just wander the campgrounds with a bag of wine yelling "coconut scones" and you'll make tons of new friends to share these sorrows with.
This comes up every year, the only variable is whether it's hockey or soccer. You will get internet access (3G) in the campground, but you won't be able to comfortably stream anything. You'll either have to go "to town" as others mention, or just let go a bit, wear your Canucks jersey during the festival, and watch the games on your PVR when you get home. If you're at all into music you'll probably forget you're missing the games in all honesty. The Gorge's high magick will take care of that.
J-Dawg, I forget, are you going to Sasquatch this year? You're one of the last people on my boarder bingo!
Not this year, no. A combination of newish job, poor planning, a decision to prioritize Coachella, and family obligations wiped out any chance of Sasquatch this year. Next year is a distinct possibility though. Assuming I can get my work visa renewal straightened out in April (or earlier).
Also the whole hanging out with the same large group of people. hope to see you next year!
All of the Coachella peeps can confirm that I don't hang much during the festival. I'm the stereotypical lone wolf. If you want to see the same things as me, that's cool, but I'm not going to waste a lot of time meeting up nor am I going to expend a lot of effort beyond telling you where I'm at. I probably spent < 10% of Coachella hanging with the boardies (during the festival, not at the camp site) even though I camped with them. I still had a blast, that's just how I roll.

HAHAHA, this is gold.
My kids spent most of today making "GoCanucksGo" signs because we have tickets for Game 1 in Vancouver. I think I'm gonna have to make a sign as well. Look for "Coconut Scones" in the crowd during Tuesdays Canucks game.
