Okay well I was feeling kinda unsure about my choice to see Akron/Family after I didn't get into them as much as I anticipated, and that Holy Ghost! song is great. I'm thinking I'll head to see them after Bloc Party now. It'll mean one less stage change for me on Saturday since I was planning on seeing Devendra Banhart on the Bigfoot, which is right after Holy Ghost.
edit: ah shit I had the order wrong and Holy Ghost! starts before Bloc Party. I guess I'll be seeing part of Holy Ghost! then and heading down for Bloc Party.

Fuuck. The new Vampire Weekend album is making want to see them over Mathew Dear. God damn it.

Do what all the cool kids are doing! Check out Matthew Dear until you cannot bear to miss any more Vampire Weekend. I'm hoping I can hold out for Matthew Dear's entire set before migrating, but in the heat of the moment you never know what will happen.
If it really comes down to it though, 45 minutes of Matthew Dear followed by 45 minutes of VW is a pretty solid split. Not a terrible overlap, if you ask me.

Yeah that is true. I think I'll be taking your advice! Thanks!

I was thinking of doing the Matthew dear/vampire weekend split too, except I've seen Matthew dear already. I've skipped vampire weekend at every festival they've been at for other bands-with the new album I think ill go for the whole set.
The only thing worried about is the insane crowd that will be at that stage!

Should be the largest Bigfoot crowd in Sasquatch history for Vampire Weekend because they're a band that definitely does not belong there. They're easily bigger than all of the Sasquatch stage sub-headliners.

Yeah, I'm still not sure how that happened. Foster the people in 2011 was one thing, since they blew up in popularity after the lineup and scheduling was done. Vampire weekend is a whole other ball game.

Vampire Weekend had one of the biggest mainstage crowds that I saw at Coachella. If this was the only chance I had to see them this summer I would be pissed, but since I'll be seeing them 3 times this summer I am sort of looking forward to the complete clusterfuck this set will be.

Who wants to be the dick and ask Snacks on twitter what the deal with that stage placement is? Somebody needs to take one for the team.

Just popping in here to remind you that the guy with the number 1 song in America right now, and the number 7 song in America right now, is playing opposite Vampire Weekend. The second half of Vampire Weekends set is going to be a lot less crowded than you think.
Also, festivals create conflicts to disperse the crowd. It doesn't make logistical sense to have everyone at the same stage at the same time.

The second half will be a lot less crowded, the the first half will be total madness. The only thing against them for those 45 minutes is a dude 90% of attendees probably haven't even heard of.

Word from Zacks about Vampire Weekend is "they had to switch dates last minute." Makes sense. I'm guessing they were originally scheduled to sub-headline Monday and asked to switch since they have a show in Paris on the 29th. That's probably the only reason the Lumineers have a sub-head slot.

That's probably the only reason the Lumineers have a sub-head slot. The Lumineers are one of the most overplayed bands on the radio right now. They'd be subheadlining either way.

I guess that makes sense, but if they were going to sub, why not switch them with Arctic Monkeys? Arctic Monkeys are still a pretty big act, but round these parts I think Vampire Weekend is a bigger draw.

Vampire Weekend is billed 5th on the lineup whereas the Lumineers are 8th, so apparently the festival organizers think VW has the larger draw. I'm not sure if any Bigfoot headliner has ever been billed higher than all of the Sasquatch stage sub-headliners. The only reason I can think of as to why they were put on Bigfoot is because they have a 90 minute slot there instead of the Sasquatch sub-head slot which is 75, and since they're headlining they can play beyond their timeslot if they choose to.

Only time I can think of is when the Beastie Boys played an instrumental set on the Bigfoot but that isn't exactly the same thing.

Sigh. Don't remind me that I didn't start going until 2008. In addition to missing the Beastie Boys, I missed Arcade Fire, Bjork, Interpol and Spoon. That must have been one hell of a fun weekend.
