Alt-J over the Lumineers is pretty much a no brainer for me.

Same here, and I'm stoked they are playing Bigfoot at twilight, going to make for one hell of a show.

They're in the same class as Fun. and Gotye for me, the "I can't fucking stand them" class. I guarantee a decent portion of the people going this year will want to see them though.

They weren't on my top 10 list but that doesn't mean I won't be seeing them. I'm not familiar with Andrew Bird or Holy Ghost so there's no conflict stopping me. Andrew Bird makes beautiful music, I highly recommend checking him out. He's a top notch whistler with a fantastic voice and his band is also great. I've been mildly obsessed with him for quite some time. Holy Ghost is a fun dancy group signed to James Murphy's DFA label. They, like everyone else on DFA, put on a fantastic live show and are worth seeing if you like that type of music. I'm probably going to have to split them up so I can go to part of all three. They're in the same class as Fun. and Gotye for me, the "I can't fucking stand them" class. I guarantee a decent portion of the people going this year will want to see them though. Thank you! I have a feeling it's going to be like Fun. last year and everyone will abandon the stage once they play "Ho Hey" and it'll be even more awkward that they're sub-headlining on the main stage.

"signed to James Murphy's DFA label" is all you had to say to get me interested. Now there's probably going to be a conflict where there wasn't one before, but that's okay.
And yeah, I have no clue how the Lumineers are sub-headlining a night when Vampire Weekend (who are many orders of magnitude more popular and talented) are stuck on Bigfoot.

I don't understand all this hate for the Lumineers. I wish I did, so I could just go see Alt-J with no worries, but I really enjoyed that whole album. Submarines, Classy Girls, and Big Parade are all really pleasant songs to sit in the sun and enjoy... I dunno. I thought their album was a lot better than the new Mumford.

I would class the Lumineers along with Head and the Heart, Of Monsters and Men, and Mumfords before putting them alongside fun and goyte...
Mumfords are Headlining a night....Last year Of Monsters and Men sub-headlined on the Mainstage....Head and the Heart had a Mainstage slot...So comparing them to their peers they are slotted accurately...

For Friday I would check out Youth Lagoon, he has a very intense and almost personal show. If his sound is good on the yeti stage he should be perfect for twilight hour. The only other recommendations I have is to go to DEATH GRIPS. I haven't seen them live but I hear it is an incredible and violent show...if you are into that sort of thing. That was definitely the direction I was leaning. I keep hearing wonderful things about YL live. The only reason I even have a conflict with Death Grips / Menomena is that I saw Menomena here in Anchorage like 2 years ago at a show with The Antlers and they blew me away. If it helps with the decision, the Menomena you saw may not be the one that exists anymore. Right around two years ago they lost one of the 3 founding members and are currently a shell of their former selves in my mind. Their last record isn't very good either.

Their last record isn't very good either. Hey now, that’s like your opinion man. I really like Moms. That pisses me off that I will be missing Menomena again. I have never seen them but I can’t miss Zach Hill.

The hardest one for me right now is Reignwolf vs. Red Fang. I was stoked when I saw Red Fang was going to be there. I had never heard Reignwolf, but after watching some of his performances on YouTube, I was really looking forward to his set too. Have you seen Red Fang before? That could make the decision easier. Reignwolf is an amazing guitarist and performer, but RF is one of the best metal bands in the PNW, and everyone I know says they have a fantastic live show. Plus their set bleeds into Japandroids and that's just gonna be ragin' couple of hours. Really depends on what kind of mood you're going for, I guess. Pretty bummed I'll be missing Reignwolf at Squatch for the second year in a row, but I'll catch him at Squamish so it's gravy.

At the moment, I'm leaning more towards RF because the main stage in the middle of the afternoon just doesn't seem like the right vibe to really get into Reignwolf's set. Plus, you make a good point about the smoother transition into Japandroids.

Reignwolf should have been pooped up one stage instead of up to the Mainstage...You are right about it not being the right vibe, last year he was on the smallest stage and killed it, was in the crowd with his guitar and everything...I just don't see the people on the hill getting the full experience...

Normally I'd tell you to lose the image in your sig line, Obi Wan, but I find that I'm having a difficult time doing that in your case. It's tastefully sized, and I could look at that picture all diggity-day long.

Also, for whoever is saying your relationship will end if you go see different bands, just set up a meeting place after. Unless you were planning on cuddling during "Ho Hey" I guarantee it won't be a big deal.

It's tastefully sized, and I could look at that picture all diggity-day long. I wondered if it was kosher here, since I notice nobody else had image sigs. Don't make special exceptions for me, but it is hard to argue with its perfection. P.S. Thanks for not murdering me, Mr. Gramma; I've seen the scars you've left on other noobs who stepped out of line.

However, she is a Gorge virgin and will likely want to be stuck to my hip the whole time. Which means she will agree to watch which ever I go to, then will quietly resent me for the rest of her life if she doesn't get to hear that fucking song.

Can't we all just hope Dr. Garbanzoinski's petition idea works? I'm waiting on that, but in reality I have a feeling Alt-J will return to Seattle sooner than the Lumineers and that might make the decision for me. As for the Reignwolf issue I think he can play a larger stage, I've seen him 3 times now in varying size venues and he seems to know how to adjust his sets accordingly.

I have never seen them but I can’t miss Zach Hill. I feel this same way but Toro has been on my must see list for over 4 years and have never had the chance. I think I'll check him out and if he is not very good live I'll go and get my mind blown by DEATH GRIPS.
