One way you guys push music discovery is through the ‘Band of the Day’ feature. Do you also curate your own Spotify, or other streaming-service, playlists?
The approach so far is to allow that to happen completely organically without our stamp on it at all, because that lends it more credibility. And this notion guides a lot of what we do. If we treat it as marketing, it becomes completely ineffective. So we try to resist the temptation to meddle if it’s happening organically.
There are ProBoards sites that are pretty active, and they serve a lot of good porpoises. Like one in particular is sasquatchfest.proboards.com, but I’ve learned that the people on those boards can be really nasty to newcomers. So we can either create our own official forum, or endorse what they are doing. But the thinking is to try and let as much of that happen organically as we can.
I wonder if Snacks himself has trolled here. Like Sara said mentioned, if you walk into most forums sounding like an idiot, or just coming on too strong while you are a noob, you can expect a negative response. Has Snacks ever been on facebook? facebook is just just as bad or worse, but the people there are not as intelligent and can only resort to adolescent name calling when they don't agree with you about something.
Yeah, the people here are quite tame compared to several forums I've frequented over the years. Terrible grammar and/or LOL-speak are frowned upon, and that's no different than anywhere else I'd want to be a member of. There really are a lot of sensitive little snowflakes out there that can't take any criticism or being told they're wrong. I don't think anything about this forum should change to make it appeal to the undesirables on the internet. If Snacks wants to make a new forum full of morons, he can have at it. It would be a Sasquatch-themed 4chan clone.
