Maybe you really wanted some snacks so your brain made you type it! ...or maybe it's a that changes the word.

We're only nasty to people who can't type/act like adults.. I feel like it's pretty fair.

Yeah, you can't deny that we're a terrible ambassador for their brand.

To be fair, the majority of forums that I've seen aren't exactly open-arms to newcomers. And this is by far the most warm and fuzzy forum I've ever joined.
If it were an official forum, though, I think the tone would be a bit different. More of a "come in and ask all your dumb questions!" vibe.

Yeah if Snacks thinks this shit is bad, he obviously has not spent even a modicum of time on any other internet forum.

I wonder if Snacks himself has trolled here. Like Sara said mentioned, if you walk into most forums sounding like an idiot, or just coming on too strong while you are a noob, you can expect a negative response. Has Snacks ever been on facebook? facebook is just just as bad or worse, but the people there are not as intelligent and can only resort to adolescent name calling when they don't agree with you about something.

I was thinking the same thing Cys... he probably got ripped a new asshole by HG for talking like my 14 year old sister.

Yeah, the people here are quite tame compared to several forums I've frequented over the years. Terrible grammar and/or LOL-speak are frowned upon, and that's no different than anywhere else I'd want to be a member of. There really are a lot of sensitive little snowflakes out there that can't take any criticism or being told they're wrong. I don't think anything about this forum should change to make it appeal to the undesirables on the internet. If Zacks wants to make a new forum full of morons, he can have at it. It would be a Sasquatch-themed 4chan clone.

Maybe we should just assume every newb is Snacks.

Let's suggest future lineup additions to every noob that shows up just in case. I'm sure they will understand.

Bums you out that he's right? Or that he would say that? Mostly that he would say that, that we have a reputation for being nasty to newcomers. Almost every new person that starts talking says how intimidated they are before joining. I wish our attitude to newbs wasn't "you have to survive the hazing and then we'll like you." I would be happy with "we don't give a fuck about you and will leave you alone when you say stupid shit, but if you're cool, you're one of us." I will say that I am opposed to the "we welcome everyone and will embrace you like a lost lamb" attitude. I survived bad hazing in my first couple of weeks because I called Foo Fighters "dad rock" (a statement I stand by, FYI), but that first week or so was brutal. It sucks to be yelled at online. I was an idiot and figured it out, but still, I think people that come on and say stupid shit should just be ignored until they say something interesting. That's all I'm saying.

Also, can I suggest a stickied "New People: Read This Before Posting" thread will some rules and guidelines? Rules being: no hate language, no threats of violence, no scalping, etc. Guidelines being: search for the answers to your questions before asking, don't start unnecessary threads, please type and act like an adult, etc. This might encourage new people to post.
One of my favorite parts of this board is when new people come in and are really cool and are from different places or have different tastes or things to say, and that happens rarely. Richardina Koufey, Nick, rustuuu...there aren't many recent examples. I'm not saying that's our fault, I'm just saying we can get more Nicks if we do that, and who doesn't want more Nicks?

I survived bad hazing in my first couple of weeks because I called Foo Dr. Garbanzohters "dad rock" (a statement I stand by, FYI), but that first week or so was brutal. It sucks to be yelled at online. I was an idiot and Dr. Garbanzoured it out, but still, I think people that come on and say stupid shit should just be ignored until they say something interesting. That's all I'm saying. Aside from one member who harassed me (and was called out on it by other members), everyone here was really nice to me when I joined, and I'm fucking annoying - so I really don't get this idea that we're so mean to newcomers.

Honestly, we're a bit nicer to females, because we're not bullies, and at one point there were so few of them. Also, you're not as annoying as you think you are. Also also, we're mostly not that mean to newcomers, and most of us are never mean to anyone.
