You never really got over the 80s, did you?

I'm in the same boat, Stamper. Both of those are very high on my bucket list.

I have gotten into New Order on account of Stamper's enthusiasm. The same cannot be said for Blur.

Yeah, Blur would require far too much work from me to convert anybody into liking them. Their sound is so overtly 90s and British that if you missed that train back in the 90s, you're probably not gonna get on now.

I really hope that Muse and Kings of Leon aren't booked for ACL, they would be pretty disappointing bookings for top spots.

Why? Wonk pretty much nailed the benefits to having Muse and Kings of Leon headline. Whomever is headlining opposite them are pretty much guaranteed to be less congested.
The only way I see having both Muse and Kings of Leon headline as a bad thing is if ACL decides to bring in 4 more equally nauseating headliners.

Yeah, Wonk definitely has a point there, I've just never gotten too into The Cure or Depeche Mode. I've casually listened to both of them and it never did too much, maybe it's because of my age or something. Now if all four bands end up there, I will probably still go see them over the alternatives just because of who they are.
A second follow-up point, I would rather there be a lineup where there are conflicts instead of one where I'm saved the piece of mind of deciding over who to see, because at least then there is still a choice rather than being saved the choice because of a subpar booking. This is a bit of a nit-picky argument, but nonetheless I hope at least neither KOL or Muse are booked, which still seems pretty likely knowing ACL.
I should probably give Depeche Mode and The Cure another listen given their likelihood of being there.

Do yourself a favor and listen to The Cure and Depeche Mode immediately.

I'll admit, I have never really listened to Depeche Mode but I damn excited that they are potentially going to be there just because of their stature. I have listened to The Cure a lot and have them on my list of top 5 bands I must see before I die. I will be more than happy if KOL draws the crowd away from them.

This has nothing to do with the festival but Austin City Limits (the TV series) puts out a damn good product. I have recently come to understand two bands that I totally didn't get before--Bon Iver and T.une-yards. After seeing them on ACL live I have finally gained a lot of appreciation and respect for them.
Bon Iver is a band that I didn't exactly hate, but I could never understand what all the fuss was about either. After seeing their episode I totally get it now--they are an incredibly talented and diverse band. I was blown away by their use of offbeats, key changes, and tempo changes.
T.une-yards was a group that I didn't even take the time to explore just because, like HG said in his Amoeba section, I usually find myself too busy with only a couple bands at a time because I consume myself in everything they are about. I'm glad I caught this episode because Merrill Garbus, who I can imagine seems really loud and obnoxious to some, makes great use of a loop pedal and puts out a very unique sound.
As far as the festival goes I am super pumped about the lineup announcement. The great thing about this festival (which can also be the not-so-great thing) is that it is later in the year. All of the bands that are on a summer tour end up on all of the other festival lineups while ACL has the potential to pick-up some of the other bands who might be busy working on an album or get a late start to touring. This makes me start to believe that NIN, The National, and MGMT will all be there. Add those bands to the bands that are already rumored (The Cure, Depeche Mode, Muse, Atoms for Peace) and ACL has the potential to be one of the best festivals this year (if you like those bands as much as me of course). I know, this is the Sasquatch board and nothing beats the atmosphere and people at Sasquatch, but since I live in Texas now at least I have this to be super excited about.

Hahaha. She does indeed rock the shit out of her tunes with that loop pedal.

Yeah I really don't understand why C3 is getting Muse again as a headliner, seems such a waste of headlining spot. Don't have any interest in them either, hope the other headliners and subs are more impressive.
