HI! I'm from Los Angeles and this is going to be my first time attending the Sasquatch Festival. What's the best airport to fly into? I'm thinking about just flying into Seattle then tackle the 3 hr drive into Gorge OR idk maybe I might decided to drive up from LA. Ugh choices. Any suggestions and/or recommendations would be appreciated ;D

Airline and rental car rates into Seattle would probably be your best option. On a nice day, the drive from Seattle to the Gorge is one of the most breathtaking drives you will ever take. I highly recommend it to anyone from outside of the area. The only downside to flying is the lack of equipment you can bring with you, but it's definitely doable. There are plenty of shopping centers and grocery stores between Seattle (technically Seatac) and the mountain pass that you can stock up at after picking up your car.

I've driven down to Coachella (from Vancouver) a couple of different times now and loved it. If you're the road trip type it can be awesome, especially if you have the time to drive the coast.

If you have the time and enough friends to split the costs I'd drive, but if it's just you then flying is probably a lot easier.

Alaska Air flys to Wenachee and to Yakima. You can route from LAX (or BUR, SNA, etc) to SEA then on to Yakima or Wenachee and be less than an hour from Quincy / Sasquatch.

I'm pretty sure those construction projects are all finished up.

I don't think Washington actually knows how to finish a construction project.

They just pick a new one in another inconvenient spot to ruin traffic for 18 months.

I don't think Washington actually knows how to finish a construction project. Because Washington is easily distracted due to excessive bong hits.

Those construction projects have been on that road since I started going to Sasquatch, these many years ago. I'm sure it's just roadwork that gets built, then taken apart, then built again, etc.

Or it gets half-finished, they run out of money, and have to pass another highway levy, halting work for 2 years.

We drive, but its actually really fun. Especially when you have awesome/awful playlists and know lots of the lyrics, and bring trail mix. You're going to have such a good time!

Stevens pass highway forever. I've never heard of anyone taking this route to the Gorge before, but it piqued my interest. In zero traffic going the Stevens pass route instead of Snoqualmie pass adds 50 minutes to the trip for me, however I usually leave in the early evening hours when traffic is at its worst on I-405 and I-90. What I don't know is what traffic is like on the 522 and US-2 during those hours. I could end up saving time going the Stevens pass route because it's taken me over an hour just to get to the start of I-90 in the past.

Last year coming from Van(Canada) the I-90 was the shits, at least an hour in gridlock. We forgot to go through Stevens Pass on the way down and it took us nearly 10 hours (plus the shopping trip, pee stops). However, we took that route back home and it cut 3-4 hours. So worth it!

and I don't know about the 522, but logically I would think the traffic on Memorial Day weekend would flow towards Seattle? You Washington guys have such a cluster-fuck of roads and highways, but I really don't think you'll have any issues going that way.

It's actually the opposite for Memorial Day weekend, people are trying to get the hell out of Seattle. There's events other than Sasquatch going on in eastern Washington that weekend every year, not to mention lots of people go camping on this side of the mountains. I'm pretty certain traffic would be very smooth once I got to US-2 since most people take I-90. I-5 and I-405 are always a mess leading up to I-90. I think last year we left Seattle around 6:30pm going on I-405 and it was after 8 when we finally got to the I-90 exit, then around 10:45 when we got to the Gorge.

I see, I see. I'm so excited now, the US-2 drive is actually so much nicer. The only worry I would have is the possibility for snow up there, but it's been okay every time I've made the drive. Oh, and less pee spots
