When the Roots' set ended last year, they started playing the Roots over the PA system and FD just kept on dancin' to it like they hadn't left the stage.
I love that guy.

It sounds like the folks that are at Matthew Dear are going to get a pretty intimate show! I will have plenty of room to dance horribly in El Chupacabra ;D
I will catch the end of both Macklemore and Vampire Weekend though.

I am a little upset I will miss Matthew Dear, but Vampire Weekend is worth it.

I am a little upset I will miss Matthew Dear, but Vampire Weekend is worth it. Yeah, I am upset about missing any parts of the shows that night. My wife has never seen Matthew Dear and we have both seen Vampire Weekend and Macklemore.

It's not like I 'get' Macklemore (or even give a shit), but missing Vampire Weekend for him seems silly to me. For one thing, he's a NW performer and you'll be able to see him in the next six months with no problem. For another thing, I have ended up seeing Macklemore without trying (or wanting to) at the last... two Sasquatches? Three? It was aggravating when DCFC and Modest Mouse made the leap from subheadliner to headliner without even having released any new material in 2011; it's downright fucking infuriating that Macklemore has been upgraded to headliner from 'dude who is just gonna wander onstage at some point during the weekend anyway, no matter what'. I agree with the Macklemore part, however DCFC and MM were local legacy acts for the tenth anniversary and if I remember correctly they didn't do very many shows before or after sasquach...Not to mention we did get new material from modest mouse...I honestly love how they are performing one-two new songs at every big performance and taking their time with the new album...Seems like they are building proper anticipation instead of just throwing out some half baked collection of songs to satisfy company obligations...

Anyway, yeah, that Modest Mouse set in 2011 was incredible. But I was still piiiiissed when they were announced as headliners along with Death Cab. 'Legacy' whatever, that was (and is) some lazy-ass festival booking.

I can see that, I am always down for modest mouse on the bill, DCFC seemed like the fill-in act they booked when they couldn't get pearl jam or soundgarden and were thinking of "local" bands with enough material to headline...Although it isn't entirely true that death cab didn't have new material, they put out codes and keys on may 31st 2011...

Sorry, I just don't get Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. I will be at vampire weekend having a blast.

Sorry, I just don't get Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. I will be at vampire weekend having a blast. I'm really sad that Matthew Dear and VW have to start at the exact same time. Even with that being the case, I'm going to see about 45 minutes of Matthew Dear (depending on how much fun I'm having there) and then switch over to VW, also skipping Marklemore entirely.

Matthew Dear might be the closest we get all weekend to something resembling the 2 hours of heaven that was James Murphy from last year. I cannot miss it!

Have you guys seen Matthew Dear before? I love his albums but don't know if I will be able to miss any of VW to see him...unless he is just an unbelievable performer.

This Matthew Dear/Vampire Weekend decision gets harder by the day. Especially after listening to Matthew Dear's boiler room DJ set..

I haven't seen him before, but I know a fair amount about what he does. It really depends on if he's playing a live set with his band, or if he's playing a DJ set. His live band is very tight and they play very well together, putting on a very fun dancy show. A DJ set on the other hand, might make me even more excited. He's got a very unique, eclectic taste in music that makes his DJ sets (like James Murphy from last year) incredibly funky and fun. Either way you can't really go wrong. The more I get to know his body of work, the closer he gets to my top 5 "most excited to see" acts of the entire weekend.

Since I was able to catch about 30 minutes of VW at Coachella I'll probably be fine with splitting my time between them and MD.

The only reason I really give a shit about Macklemore, whereas I don't care about 99% of other rappers these days, is because he's local and has a good message in his songs. It isn't the typical "pimps n hoez" type of rap and he's very obvious about his love for Seattle. Some of his songs are just incredibly catchy too. I'm still not planning on missing any of Vampire Weekend, but I'll for sure be running down the hill after them to catch the last half of Macklemore.

I also saw the entire VW set last time they were at Sasquatch, so seeing someone I appreciate as much as Matthew Dear for the first time is a much higher priority.
