The only other album that might contend for top album of the year for me so far is French Films' "White Orchid." None of you have or will bother giving it a chance though, so carry on.

I need to add
Daft Punk - Random Access Memories
After two days and many spins, this album became a very pleasant birthday present...I went in with no expectations and very little anticipation and came away blown away...I really hope this one gets a interstella 5555 like treatment...

I went in with extremely high expectations and still got blown away. Definitely add it to mine as well, please.
While I would totally love an Interstella 5555 treatment, they've said that they don't really want to make videos and they also don't want to repeat things they've done in the past, so I don't really see it happening.
I didn't want to get sick of it too fast by listening to it 6 times a day, so I actually managed to go through the entire day today without a listen. I'm very much looking forward to another spin tomorrow morning first thing.

Daft Punk - Random Access Memories
Yup, I love it. While there are definitely a few throw aways, when this album hits, it hits big. Giorgio, Touch, Get Lucky and Contact are going to be classics. Niles Rodgers just fucking slays on this record. It's such a beautiful sounding record and it's incredibly full and complex...I can see why it took 8 years to make. Worth the wait.
Also, Vampire Weekend - Modern Vampires of the City.
Diane Young is such a powerhouse, and the rest of the album follows after that. First time I have ever really enjoyed a Vampire Weekend album. Very mature and adventerous compared to their other stuff. I love it.

Holy shit, RAM - Daft Punk....I fucking loved every second of it...on the 10th spin and it keeps getting better.
Also please add the Vampire Weekend record...I'm only on my second listen, but I pretty sure this will be in my top 5 at the end of the year. Seriously, I love everything these guys have ever put out. Not sure why , but I thought I would finally hate something by them, nope.

That's why I'm so impressed with the Daft Punk album. I've probably given it about 15 listens by now, and I haven't tired of any of it even in the slightest. Every listen has just gotten better and that hasn't happened in a long time. I can't get tired of it, it's just so well crafted. Those kick drums are perfect.

I also love the hits of strings and what not...the general production is so beautiful, serious boner about this album.

I'm having a really tough time choosing one or two songs as my favorites. I really like Lose Yourself To Dance, Beyond, and Fragments Of Time. The other songs are all pretty much tied after that. Every track is so solid and well made that it could sound like anything and I'd probably still like it.

WHOLE ALBUM IS FUCKING AWESOME. I even love "The Game of Love" now, which I hated at first.

Finally had a chance to listen to some of the albums that have been languishing around on my ipod (snuck it into work on my graveyard last week - I'm such a rebel!), so let's add:
Devendra Banhart - Mala Iron and Wine - Ghost on Ghost Daft Punk - Random Access Memories Vampire Weekend - Modern Vampires of the City
Almost forgot: James Blake - Overgrown

I know you guys were arguing about it a couple of pages ago about 'Diane Young', but I could seriously listen to that pitch shifted segment over and over and over...I literally could not stop listening to that song last night.
Has anyone heard the new National album yet? I'm stoked to listen to that shit.

Fragments of Time hasn't grown on me yet, which is funny because Face to Face is my favorite DP song.

Fragments of Time hasn't grown on me yet, which is funny because Face to Face is my favorite DP song. Agreed. That's the only song I didn't care for at the beginning that I haven't come around on.
