the maine stage isn't going anywhere, it would be a waste of money spent to trash it now...They were already clearing a spot for it in 2011, 2012 was an experiment, this year it will be shifted and considerations for the noise pollution will be made...

How do you know he is adding people? Has he said this somewhere? There have always been additions after the announcement and we are about 16 acts shy of last year... I am aware of this but I have not heard anything official.

That makes sense...I just don't see them taking a step back, as the trend towards a smaller fourth stage/hip-hop exclusive has been coming for a couple years and finally implemented last year...It pulled in good audiences and was a fun/unique stage to see acts...Sol's performance in particular was a lot of fun...

Constant jokes about Katie Kate were made. Also a good chunk of Todd Barry's set was commenting about how awful it was.

I saw a few acts there and had fun at each, the crowds were pretty full each time...Wasn't at the comedian who started the "lynch mob", so I didn't really hear anyone bitch about it except on the boards, after the show...I feel that with some changes, it could be a welcome addition...

The way I see it is right now they have way too many hip hop artists on the lineup for there to not be a Maine Stage again, otherwise the other three stages would be over-saturated with that genre, given that this is an alternative-based festival. I don't know how they'd change the orientation of the Maine Stage to cut down on the noise pollution with the Bigfoot stage and Banana Shack in relatively close proximity. Most if not all of the acts on the Maine are very bass-heavy and that noise is going to bleed over into other areas no matter what.

The Maine Stage will become a silent stage where everyone in the crowd gets a pair of wireless headphones.

That comes to a grand total of 2.5 a day. I think the festival can maintain it's identity (your description is horseshit but i digress) and still host 1 rap act on each stage per day.

The Maine Stage will become a silent stage where everyone in the crowd gets a pair of wireless headphones. This is a really good idea. Bonnaroo has a "silent disco", where they distribute headphones that are synched with a DJ on stage. There are only so many pairs of headphones, so a line forms, but watching everyone dance without hearing the music yourself can be more fun than actually being in the disco.

Yeah Squamish had one of those too. They're a blast. It all seems normal with the headphones on then when you stop for a second and take them off you realize how funny dancing looks when there is no music.

Is alternative still even a thing people say? I feel like it is a regional/indie type crowd and there is a bunch of independent hip hop.

Is there any speculation as to which artists are going to be added to the lineup? Usually it's about 15 artists, I think.
I'm guessing we are going to see more EDM, like Feed Me w/ Teeth from last year.

I'm thinking that they will have to bring in The Knife due to poor sales.
