Hey, bud. I don't think anyone is calling you a hipster for "liking the music you enjoy listening to". I think it is because the pretentious manner you have expressed your opinions on music in general. All of the regulars on this board are music lovers and don't necessarily like everything the play on they radio but you will never see any of them write that a reason for not liking an artist is because they are too mainstream. You are talking with people that generally know what they are talking about in terms of music. Also, if you are working on the assumption that it is more likely to be able to see Prince then Com Truise multiple times, then I'd have to say you are mistaken. Jesus, this stared with me saying I prefer smaller acts over headliners. I just want to see as many acts at the festival as possible, so I listen to as many acts on the bill as possible beforehand to see which I would want to see live. I would see some smaller acts instead of a headliner if that smaller acts didn't tour near me and the headliner did, or if I had seen the headliner before. I live in Vancouver, Canada, and we often get skipped on world tours (Sigur Ros hasn't been to Van in 5 years) Seeing a lineup poster that has huge headliners doesn't sell the show for me, I wont go just because of them (unless they are insanely good), I go for the whole festival.

It's cool man, I legitimately get it. Personally I don't have any problem with you except your generic username, your lack of an avatar, and every single thing that you are saying.

Huey Lewis once tried to steal my stool at a brewery. I told him to move. He did. We then got into an argument over what constituted quality Mexican food. I won. He bought me a beer. I have nothing to add regarding The News.

Im not gonna run my ass off to get a good spot watching Kanye or Prince. Sasquatch is not set up in a way that you have to run to get a good spot for a headliner. The main stage is huge and there is tons of room. Even down in the pit if you are along the back there is room. Nobody said that they only watch the headliners but of course we care who they are. Additionally, Kanye and Prince have never been there but you would be a fool to miss them. It seems like you see a band more for your own reputation than because you want to see them. I love everything about this post but Kanye was actually at Sasquatch in 05 and it was amazing. Lots of talk about how amazing 2010's lineup was today (it was) but I think 05 was still the gold standard lineup. It was only one day and yet at least five of the bands that played that day could headline today.

It's just pathetic when people that live in a major city whine about how they never get good shows. Try living in fucking Montana.
Edit: It's actually insulting more than anything.

Can people from Calgary complain? We miss out on quite a bit that other "major" cities get.

I still think The Postal Service will headline Sunday or Monday night How does a band headline with one album though? It would be the shortest headlining set in Sasquatch history unless Gibbard played some Death Cab songs too, or they dug deep and brought out some unreleased tracks. Burrito asked me earlier if I had ever seen The Postal Service live and I thought about it for a second (I'd seen Death Cab a bunch in the early 00's and in the later years they often covered "Such Great Heights") but ultimately decided that I hadn't ever seen them. Anyway, as time has passed my brain was all, waaait a minute- you HAVE seen The Postal Service! AT SASQUATCH, no less. I can hardly remember the show, which isn't a good sign but can also be attributed to my drug-addled brain/it was almost a decade ago. However, I'm pretty sure they were they were 3rd on the line-up, played just before The Roots, who were sub-headlining. I wasn't interested in the headliner that year and have since forgotten who it was. I do remember The Postal Service playing some cover songs, so if they were to headline this year, maybe they would fill the time with sa bunch of covers/remixes? Also, I wonder if Jenny Lewis will play with them for the reunion shows? She was there with them at Sasquatch '04.
